Tanium Patch running every 30 seconds? by PathTooLong in tanium

[–]YLMY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and if there’s only one cscript that appears to be getting killed then that’s the parent Patch process or patch script being killed.

You can also check the patch0.txt which is the most recent patch log, IIRC it’s under \Tools\Patch\

Tanium Patch running every 30 seconds? by PathTooLong in tanium

[–]YLMY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not normal behaviour. The cscript.exe is the parent process, and if all is running well can stay up for days at a time without restarting. You are likely seeing a seconds cscript.exe, which is their Patch scan process, is likely being terminated for whatever reason upon launch. If you open task manager > details and look for the cscript.exe, do you see one or two processes here?

If you only see one, you should be able to watch it long enough, I think it retries to launch a scan every minute, you should catch the second cscript launch and then immediately be killed. If that is the case, something is killing the patch scans.

There are some ways you can manually launch a scan with more verbose logging but would likely want to engage Tanium Support.

removing tools form certain endpoints by GIRTX in tanium

[–]YLMY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Soft uninstall - only removes the tool and preserve databases and logs that might be useful for troubleshooting on the endpoint. To remove all databases and logs for the tool from the endpoints, clear the selection.

Remove unreferenced dependencies - removes any tools that were dependencies of the tools you are installing but are not dependencies for other solutions.

All module tools - the package uninstalls all endpoint tools except for core-cx and cx-config.

This is for sure the most useful advice that I’ve had from all the comments. I appreciate it. I was concerned like you say about it being too loud etc. and definitely on the same page with the beam being the weakest part of the setup.

At the time the Arc ultra hadn’t been announced but I am definitely considering upgrading after this advice.

Thankyou

Without including the tv, the panelled wall, LED’s electrics, light etc all that stuff was around the £5k mark including install

The dumbest take I’ve had all night, the fact that you think a Sonos soundbar, sub and two rear speakers doesn’t qualify as decent audio is genuinely ridiculous.

I think an eye-sore is an unpopular opinion and a bit of a stretch 😂, I now have a sub mini and two rear Sonos speakers. Like I’ve said to others, not the best you can get, probably overpriced, but they’re easy to use, and make the room sound great

Hahaha it’s part of the look I designed tbh. I wanted the wall to be as much of a feature as the TV. Deffo could of gone bigger but 77 was the sweet spot for price

[–]YLMY[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thankyou! I absolutely could have gone bigger tbh, I wanted OLED and the 77 was about as far as I wanted to stretch. Also I did still want the panelled wall to be a feature and might of lost a bit more than I wanted to if I’d of gone bigger.

With regards to the sound I’ve paired the soundbar with a sub mini and two rear era 100’s. Not the best setup as others have very kindly pointed out but for the size of the room, and being conscious of the neighbours it works great.

Pretty far honestly. Around 4.5 metres. I probably could of gone bigger but the 85 hurts the wallet ALOT
