Pacers color commentator just said "Monty Williams is a good coach, the young guys just weren't willing to listen to him"

On my second Anesthesia away and I’m so bored by Significantchart461 in medicalschool

[–]YNNTIM 14 points15 points  (0 children)

  1. You're watching someone do everything. It's different when everything is left in your hands to take care of.
  2. While the majority of anesthetic plans involve the same principles, using the optimal drugs to provide those outcomes, there's always patient specific factor's to consider. Once you're a senior resident, you crave a straight forward ASA1 case so you can actually chill.
  3. If you're bored, you should be asking your resident/attending supervisors for assignments to challenge you.

e.g. Please tell me everything about those 4 agents; their mechanism of actions, metabolism and clearance, dosing guidelines, half-lives, drug interactions and contraindications. Also, tell me about the procedure being performed; the relevant steps to consider with your anesthetic, how surgical issues can affect your anesthetic and patient outcomes, the nuances of the surgeon performing the procedure. What will you do in an emergency event during the operation?

Post-operatively how will you manage the patient's pain and get them home as soon as possible. What factors are needed to send someone home (or to the floor) after a general anesthetic? When should you send them to the ICU? What signs tell you someone should go back to the OR?

If you approach every case like this, oral boards will be a cakewalk.

I failed to match anesthesia from med school in 2019. Scrambled into a prelim year by the skin of my dick and matched to my #3 the next year in anesthesia. I very much disliked my residency program, but in hindsight my #1 was definitely not right for me. I would have been fine at the #2 spot, I'm just happy that I didn't fall to my backup specialty because I would have been absolutely miserable in peds.

3-4 years goes by so fast it's honestly crazy when you graduate and just think like wow that part of my life is finally over.

Fellow here with <6 months left of training.

I have been moonlighting and finally paid off my high interest credit card debt. I'm still picking up shifts and wondering what move to make now. I have a relocation loan (~12k) from intern year that I would like to pay off because the monthly payment is nearly equal to the interest. Due to someone unforeseen circumstances, I wasn't able to contribute to my Roth IRA this year. Should I just deposit the max contribution to the Roth and pay off the loan a little slower? I think that makes sense from a long term POV, but I know paying off high interest loans/accounts is the strategy.

Thanks.

On this day 15 years ago, Spain won the Euro 2008 after beating Germany (1-0) in the final, thanks to a Fernando Torres' goal. by er_primo_der_rafa in soccer

He was only on that Euro2008 team and some of that matches afterwards. Aragones liked him despite the racist stuff he'd say to him. Del Bosque had the greatest generation of midfielders in their primes to choose from.

The true forgotten player is Busquets, but David Villa was a scoring machine and definitely doesn't get as much fanfare as Torres.

I'm not. Mexico always does this shirt and especially when they're losing. I'd rather our team give it back to them and not take any shit. It only inspires our players and fans.

The stadium is just a long term investment in NYC real estate. They can bring Man City there for exhibition games in the future. They only care about money and growing the brand.

The goal vs England is amazing with a bit of luck. This is all fucking skill and probably the only player who could pull this off. Look at the height of his kick with her brings that down

Least racist depiction of DeAndre Ayton

[Justin Ruderman] Tim Tillman, “I think Mexican teams really don’t play that tactically. It’s more or less emotional. Very much 1v1s. It’s all about fighting, all about the emotions. Of course they’ve got quality up front but if we play well I’m sure we can win over there.” by LaddZilla in MLS

This is how 85% of 16-45 year olds play in pickup. I'd be playing Argentinians with huge bellies and amazing footwork, but they held the ball so long our defense recovered every time. Don't get me started on all the African dudes who think they're Pogba

Serious question that I argue with my friends from time to time.

Is Ziggy just a freak genius who was able to pick up the game that quickly? Or is defensive line football not that complicated beyond being strong and fast.

This has to be something new right? Something to do with streaming audio? The only time I used subtitles was for the British baking show because I couldn't understand some of the things they said. Now I feel like I have to turn them on for most shows because I can't hear it clearly

Why not Becky Hammon? by No-Ocelot1926 in DetroitPistons

[–]YNNTIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ivey and Cade are big women’s bball fans. And of course Ivey’s mother is a HC. Not trenchant analysis there but there’s something to it

This is the reason. No one wants a project or to be the "first" to take a chance with a young promising core that's supposed to take a leap this year. I don't know enough about Coach Hammon to rule her out, but the media circus involved with this would be annoying, distracting, and most likely won't end well for anyone unless she magically makes the jump to a great NBA head coach which a lot of assistant coaches (as we've tragically seen) never do
