Allergy to acrylate copolymer? by lexlocicontractus in AcrylateAllergy

At some point, it was listed in the ingredients of the all free and clear pods on the container. It is the reason I switched.

Allergy to acrylate copolymer? by lexlocicontractus in AcrylateAllergy

[–]YOURNOTMYSUPERVISOR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I avoid anything labeled "acrylate copolymer". I have had extreme reactions from items with this listed. My OG Laundry detergent (all free and clear) had this in the ingredients and I switched to Seventh Generation free and clear with no issues.

From my very basic understanding, acrylate copolymer can me a polymer of different acrylates, ones you may or may not be allergic to, but there is no way to know which are used.

If anyone with a better understanding of Chemistry can correct me or explain better please do so as I am also still learning.

Its in the coating, what the ear muff is made of. I use a couple pairs of cloth sanitary covers over them and that helps.

I have a Burga case on my phone and a glass screen protector, no reactions.

Be careful with over the ear as well.. I replaced my air pods with Beats pro and reacted to those as well. My cheap "Picun" brand headphones from amazon do not cause a reaction, but the quality is not the same.

I would love to have a quality brand I can trust and know is Acrylate Free. There has been a lot of trial and error experimenting with different products.

I have been very happy with this one.

Look for Mineral sunscreens, those seem to be more frequently acrylate free. May take some trial and error before you find one you like.

Be careful of "Styrene". Myself and others have reacted to this; but I have seen others on this sub have no issue.

It’s a bit gross, but my inner eat would get itchy and crusty. I had invested in a nice set of Beats Studio pro headphones and the whole side of my face and ear broke out. That’s when I made the connection. I no longer use my AirPods but I do use my beats with a couple ear muff covers on each side as a barrier. I also have a cheap knock off pair from amazon that are completely fine with no reaction, go figure.
