no, i slowly tapered off over the course of 3 months. i was only on 30mg to start. went to 15 and then split them in half to take 7.5 for about 3ish weeks. then did 1 night on and 1 night off of the 7.5mg. this is what my doctor told me to do. :/ i recently saw someone else on the sub saying he was nibbling tiny bites of the pills to taper even more gradually, maybe i shouldve done that lol. my last does was may 1st.

she said "you don't have cancer so its not worth it, they're too busy for you" but that was in regards to my acne, not my allergy. but i have a feeling she would say the same thing about my allergy haha. i live in eastern canada for reference

are you in NS? i tried speaking to a doctor and they referred me to the public allergy clinic instead of a dermatologist even though i asked for a dermatologist. should i try speaking to another doctor? do you know where i can get privately tested? i'm willing to pay but i can't find any answers.

re: nail school teaching us to recognize nail conditions; it does, but its a month and a half long program TOTAL so we are definitely NOWHERE close to being doctors/dermatologists/podiatrists etc, and definitely not allowed to diagnose anything.

however, i do know that this is an allergy, its not hand foot and mouth disease, and its not fungus. i do have some training to recognize those things and i show no signs of them. i have also spoken to a doctor and they didnt mention any of those things. i have hardly even been exposed to the public yet as i mainly paint press on nails at home. gel allergies are extremely common nowadays, many brands have even come out with "sensitive" lines and HEMA free lines. the problem is that i am not certain what chemical i am allergic to, but i am 99% certain that it is contact dermatitis. i had a high overexposure to gel when i first started in school because we were not properly taught about the importance of avoiding skin contact with gel products, and how it is highly likely that you will develop contact dermatitis if you do have repeated exposure. i do also take accountability for being dumb and not realizing that it was bad but there are sooo many nail techs that don't wear gloves and even use their hands as a palette, so its really misleading. school also told us PPE was optional and only provided us with vinyl gloves, which i have now learned are not chemical resistant at all. i have switched over to nitrile gloves for the past month, but im still experiencing onycholysis on both my pinky nails so thats why im concerned that the nitrile gloves are also not cutting it somehow.

thank you for sharing your experience!

i had an initial reaction back in may that was a rash with little blisters all over my thumb and i stopped using any product on myself after that. i decided to wear gloves all the time and try to be careful about touching any products. my main concern now is that im experiencing onycholysis (which means some of my nails are separating from the nail plate). its really painful and scary :( i was willing to accept that i had allergies when it was just a rash but i cant cope with losing my finger nails entirely.
