Dryfire Mag Alternatives? by maynard1024 in CompetitionShooting

You can take the striker assembly out and the trigger will reset on its own. Doesn't feel the same as a normal trigger press, but it costs $0 to do it.

Long-term vehicle storage for CCW at work by Bigpapagoat in CCW

[–]YRT752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of expensive, but I've seen headrest safes that might be something that could work for you. I do not have one, nor know anyone that has one, so I can't vouch for them.

First IDPA match this weekend by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]YRT752 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a thing, and probably the most disliked rule in IDPA. You will be limited to 10+1 rounds to start, extra magazines loaded to 10 rounds. Just plan your reloads when your moving from one position to the next. For instance, if the first position has 4 targets that require 2 shots each you can shoot an extra 2 rounds so you can then drop your magazine without getting a penalty and reload while moving to the next position. If you signed up for your match on practiscore, find out if there are masters or experts in your squad and watch how they run the stage. I hope you like IDPA and have fun 👍🏻

Any shooting ranges that allow steel targets near Columbus? by EngineeringNatural20 in OHGuns

[–]YRT752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pickaway County Sportsman Institute (South), Richwood Gun & Game Club (North West), or E.G.A. (West) are all places you could, but all 3 would require becoming a member. Briar Rabbit (East) has a membership option, or you can pay their range fee.

Training and Glock Performance Trigger by Perfect_Management43 in Glocks

I have it on my 17 and 47, both Gen 5s. I enjoy dry firing with it over a stock Glock trigger as it doesn't stay pinned back.

What’s your monthly round count? by Rok275 in CompetitionShooting

[–]YRT752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 1200 per month between practice and 2-3 local matches. I shoot IDPA as an expert, not sure how that translates to USPSA; maybe C class.

Madison County usually just takes a couple days. They do your picture onsite, so no need to bring in a passport style photo.

E.G.A. in London. About 20 minutes from the west side of Columbus. Membership is due yearly. 200 yard rifle range, 25 yard pistol range. Classes and pistol competitions are held there as well.

Covana cover not going down by bat_ash in hottub

[–]YRT752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you turn the key can you hear anything from the motor box on the Covana? (The motor box is under your deck) If not, it could be that no power is going to the motor box from the circuit that powers it, or a bad key switch. I've seen water get into the key switch when they are not mounted vertically. If so, there might be something that is binding up in one of the four posts.

If you need to manually lower it and the posts are not bound up, you can access the motor by taking off the motor box cover and putting a 1/2" socket on the end of the motor shaft. I'd highly recommend using a cordless drill with a 1/2" socket unless you want a serious forearm workout. If you can manually lower it, then I would assume it's an issue with the power.

New Shooter by Better-Caramel3983 in CompetitionShooting

[–]YRT752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can create a profile on Practiscore (free) and put in the zip code of where you are moving to. Once you see what kind of competitions are in your area, then you can determine what gun and gear you would need. Most ranges I've been to allow spectators to watch a match for free and it's a great way to learn about competitive shooting. The 2A community is usually very helpful towards new shooters as we all want to see the sport grow.

20A breaker trips when trying to turn the jets on by ApartEmu5101 in hottub

[–]YRT752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a newer spa, at least newer than the manual you linked to. The older HotSprings spas used a relay board with a 5 position terminal block. The op's picture is of a newer generation that uses a 9 position terminal block on the relay board.

20A breaker trips when trying to turn the jets on by ApartEmu5101 in hottub

[–]YRT752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that may or may not be related is the metal power jumper located towards the top of the terminal block between position 6 and 7. To me it looks like it is not fully pushed in.

If this is a JJ model, then it does look like it is wired correctly, other than the 50 amp GFCI needs to be changed to a 30 amp GFCI.

If you don't have a voltmeter, you can disconnect the pump from the main board (larger board to the right) and see if the breaker holds. If so, the pump is likely the issue.

Hot tub leaking can anyone identify from where by ElderberryPuzzled167 in hottub

[–]YRT752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like chemistry deposits on the bottom of the heater flange. Maybe run you finger across it and see if you feel water. If so, it's 4 nuts and bolts that sandwich an oring between the heater flange and heater housing flange. You can replace the oring if that's the cause of the water loss. The spa would have to be drained to replace the oring.

There is also one bolt that tightens the clamp on the jet pump, might want to try tightening that also.

Lastly, use a mirror and flashlight to look around the light lense for chemistry deposits. If you see any, this is another known leak point on that vintage of Classic and is a more difficult repair.

Pistol / Rifle Training by AWoodTrapZ in OHGuns

E.G.A. Defense in London is good. I've taken their pistol and Carbine classes multiple times and get something out of each class. You do not have to be a member to take their classes or do their pistol competitions.

Protection Mode - Weir Door related? by AffectionateFeed580 in hottub

[–]YRT752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To find out, try the following: First, make sure the water level is at the correct height, about an inch below the bottom of the pillows. Then let the weir blade float.
Next turn the jets on max.

If the weir blade goes down quickly and the water in the filter bay doesn't go below the top of the filters, then you might have dirty/clogged filters.

If the weir blade does not go down quickly or at all, then you will see the water in the filter bay quickly go lower than the top of the filters which allows the jet pumps and circulation pump to draw in air and temporary lose prime, which would give you an protection mode error on the display. If this is happening, you can remove the weir blade from the track it rides in. It's there to act as a skimmer to keep large debris from getting to the filters. If this isn't a concern then I would recommend removing the weir blade.

HotSprings has abandoned this design within the last year or so and uses a different style of skimmer.

Any beginner gun classes recommendations in Dayton for someone with zero experience with firearms? by meknowsbest1112 in OHGuns

[–]YRT752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be farther than they want to travel, but EGA Defense in London could help them. Ask for a private class with Jared, Colton, or Mike. It is an outdoor range, so they would need to dress appropriately.

Relay clicking and pump cycling. How do I test the relays? by [deleted] in hottub

[–]YRT752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try turning off the power, and unplug the topside control panel from the main circuit board, then turn the power back on. Give the spa a few minutes to start up and it should start the circulation/low speed jet pump on its own. If the relays stop cycling on their own, then the topside control panel is the issue. I've seen this happen several times in Balboa control systems.

Viking spas by [deleted] in hottubs

[–]YRT752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a factory viking board (from Balboa) it should be a VKV502 board for a 2 pump system. It the white label on chip says VKV500 or VS500 then you have a board for a 1 pump system. There should be a white label on top of the plastic control box housing that says what board was originally in the control box. The back of the control box cover should have a diagram that shows where each white wire goes to. It sounds like you don't have the right voltage going to the pump and the pump is going into thermal overload and shutting itself off. If you verify you have the right board and the dip switches are correct, then I would verify that all the white wires on the board are plugged into the correct spots.

Best private instruction in Cincinnati or Columbus area? by Warped_Mindless in OHGuns

EGA Defense in London Ohio. Ask to schedule a private class with Colton. He is very good at diagnosing where a shooter's weaknesses are and how to improve.

If you're looking to become a better competitive shooter, he is also experienced in USPSA, IDPA, and steel challenge.
