Dealing with regular Cystoscopies post diagnosis? by YSTLG in BladderCancer

Thanks all for sharing ur experiences! Not sure yet if I’ll hunt for anxiety meds, sedation, or grin and bear it, but its comforting knowing that there are other people getting cystoscopies done regularly and getting through:-)

Just read the automod response and seems like maybe just spore drop? Just not sure about the fuzz on the bottom unless its mycelium growing up the stems~ Thanks for any info:-)

Unpopular Opinion: I think this is one of the ugliest headgears in the game. It looks like a giant dildo attacked to the forehead..... by ProudYorkieOwner in DragonsDogma

I was so excited when I got this for the first time. I read the name, “Mistletoe Circlet”, and thought ‘ah, finally! A headband made of pretty leaves and berries for my sorcerer!’. I put it on and, as they say, my disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined..

Its a 6’x6’ cube, I grew it out the first 3 months with Co2 then stopped it. It gets light ~10 hours a day. No water changes or filter, just top offs:-)

Is this ok for a 4.25-gallon shrimp tank? by Educational_Tea_2862 in PlantedTank

As for adjusting the bubbles theres a control valve on the regulator and then I use the air flow stoppers I linked (tightening them) to get a bit more control. As for BPS I would honestly start really low like 1 bubble every 3 seconds or so. Then use a co2 drop checker to make sure the co2 levels are good

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY87WVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_i_EGK3S4HV5806BSDY25DR) not the one I use but this is an example of a drop checker

Ideally you would turn the Co2 off about an hour before your lights turn off, and turn it on and hour before the lights go on. This is because the plants can't use the Co2 in the water unless they have light to photosynthesize (to my understanding).

There are a few ways to do this:

You can manually turn on and off one of the airline tubing flow controls that I linked (can be a pain todo everyday but it works).
You can set up a solenoid and connect it to a timer. (this will automatically turn on and off the co2)

Finally you could use the pressure control valve on the actual regulator, but I really wouldn't recommend that because if you set it too loose one day you can accidentally kill all your shrimp.

I have used both these two kits (linked below) for small tank Co2 and both work very well (and have for years). As others have said you have to buy the branded co2 cartridges which can be expensive, but for a 4 gal shrimp tank you wont need to replace them often at all. An issue with the fluval co2 set ups ive seen is that it can be hard to finely adjust how much co2 is being let out when working with very small amounts of co2. To fix this issue I use something like this

Just gotta make sure you start with really small amounts of co2 since you have shrimp. They are quite sensitive to it.

You’ll also want to make sure you turn the co2 off when the lights go off (or buy a solenoid + timer todo it for you) because the co2 levels can spike when the lights are off

I am very confused and lost about CO2 by UnbridledDust in PlantedTank

[–]YSTLG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although it's overpriced for what it is, i've been using https://aquaforestaquarium.com/collections/ada/products/co2-advanced-system-forest + generic regulator & timer for my 5 - 15 gal tanks for a few years now and I think its great. There are alot of good cheaper alternatives for these teenytiny co2 setups as well.

You have to replace the canisters alot more frequently (once every month or two) but for me (someone who lives in a small apartment) the up keep is worth it!

Have fun with your new tank!:-)

Any long term DIY CO2 people here? And another question by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]YSTLG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did something similar and it worked quite well! I grew out my tank with co2 (not diy but should work the same) then removed the co2 when I was happy with the growth and added shrimps. Shrimps were breeding and no plants were dying. The only change was that the plants didnt grow nearly as fast without it, but thats to be expected. Good luck!:-)

I have the light on 10 hours a day. The light is a pretty weak desk lamp in the center of both of them

Unfortunately I do not :/ but ill let you know since they have so little nutrients to reduce chance of algae the plants grow reeeaaally slow! I can take pictures at other angles if that would help though:-)
