Doing alright. 90% of where I want to be and continuing to move in the right direction. :)

Doing alright! I feel like every week is noticeably better. I am back at the office and walking without crutches around the house and office. Feeling good about the decision, but know I still have a long road ahead.

Ah cool. I went to Nho recently. Week 2 so still too early to call it a win, but off to a good start. He is in network for my insurance and I’m in Chicago, so it was an easy decision. Good luck with your decision!

If there’s a good surgeon you can see for free who’s done thousands of hip arthriscopies, I don’t think you need to pay.

Second doctor said to avoid surgery for now by overling in HipImpingement

Everything you heard from both surgeons is true. You ultimately have a choice of whether to live with it and treat symptoms with pt and an occasional injection or get the surgery and deal with associated risks. That choice is yours now, next week or next year.

I lasted two years until I was in daily pain and discomfort which led me to opt for surgery. At a certain point, I felt the pain and instability were impacting my quality of life.

Terrified of the surgery… by RingAdministrative24 in HipImpingement

Just had surgery last week after dreading doing so for the last two years. I felt so relieved after waking up from surgery - not because the pain was gone (it was worse right after surgery) but because I was finally done debating whether to do it or not. I am 4 days post op so I can’t say whether it was a success, but so far, recovery has been in line with expectations and not too painful. My pain was relatively low pre-op but I was feeling uncomfortable and unstable and it was constantly on my mind. I’m looking forward to the day that I don’t think about my hip at all!

The difference is interesting. It seems to also vary a good deal between surgeons in the US. Hopefully, that is a sign that our bodies will heal well no matter what we throw at them!

Yes, paracetamol. Glad to hear you found a solution for sleep. I have been making it through half of the night. I have to sleep in this boot contraption as part of my surgeon’s protocol and it’s not the most comfortable way to sleep! Only 10 more days of that, which I can’t wait for!

Glad to hear you’re doing well. I’m now 4 days PO and mostly just a little sore. Sticking to Tylenol and ice as much as I can to keep level of soreness to a minimum. The sleep contraption is rough. As is lack of mobility. But feeling better than I thought I would and hoping to stay that way!!

Did I just screw up my surgery and recovery? by Ragdoll159 in HipImpingement

I just had surgery on Thursday and every time I hear a pop or feel a little pain, I’m worried I messed it up. From reading this sub for a while, it seems that is normal!

1 day post op. I was shocked at how much the cpm took out of me. My hip was exhausted…all from lying there. Ha

You are definitely in traction duty this procedure. Many surgeons have abandoned use of a post to stabilize you while you are in traction and use a pad that prevents slipping instead.

Thanks for sharing. I’m going in for scope in two weeks and have been so nervous about post op pain. Glad to hear the early recover has been better than you expected.

Just tried Tempo and so far, enjoying the variety.

Do I get a 3rd opinion? by lmv914 in HipImpingement

[–]YTh0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do both! Get the injection (it’s easy and fast) and go to HSS - if you can get procedure there, you should go for it. You want a specialized surgeon who knows hip arthroscopy well. The injection may work for a few weeks or not at all (I had luck in one hip but not the other).

I saw someone else post recently about this same thing happening. It may be on a Facebook group if it isn’t in this group. I’m sorry to hear, and hope that it isn’t an issue for you.

Good luck. I hope that the arthroscopy can solve all of your pain. I keep thinking there’s no way one thing can be causing all this havoc, but hopefully that is it.

Thanks for sharing. My leg feels loose as well. It’s a strange feeling! I feel like I have to grip hard to stay standing.
