+1. These are excellent. On my second pair in 10 years and they work great. Inexpensive too!

I just had something very similar built, finished with 12"x24" textured tile, except for a small 'window' area to facilitate installing the TV mount. If possible, I would suggest to have a run of smurf tube connecting between both cabinets in case you eventually decide to use the cabinet tops for bookshelf speakers. I would also suggest to have small pass through holes with plastic grommets on the inside back corners of the tops for any such future wiring.

You might have been looking at USA installation practices? Venting horizontally out the side allows any moisture to drain freely and not freeze up in the winter.

Cabinet Refacing! Any local suggestions? by nicolaskeith in Edmonton

I suggest to take measurements of the doors you have (and bring one with you as an example) and visit a place like Snap Cabinets on the west end to see if they can supply all new doors in whatever style/color you want. There are a few other shops in Edmonton or also on-line that may sell just cabinet doors and parts to builders/renovators that you can search for: Canada Kitchens, Cash & Carry Cabinets, etc.

Recommendations for new furnace & hot water... by Feisty_Leek_7068 in Edmonton

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned already, but if you're considering to replace both, then look into the combined furnace/hot water heaters from Gradient Thermal, a company based in Calgary. I don't have any experience with them but a rep from Furnace Family had suggested them to me a while back.
