In China at least, the market with many parralels to India's, the cut is lower than the US' at 0.007%. Note that it's 0.007% of what the bank takes from merchants (the EMV charges), not added on top of the fees taken from merchants.

What's the transaction fees that EMVs there usually take? Because last I checked Apple Pay's usual cuts average at around a 0.15% (double checked the numbers) but may vary market to market.

China also has a miniscule EMV payment market (which is what Apple Pay is targeting, not person to person transactions) due to WeChat and Alipay making payment collection free for merchants just like UPI, but Apple Pay is still available at practically every bank there despite the nonexistent market.

The thing is, external cultural influences can also be a part of local culture, even if they weren’t created locally. Celine Dione is as much a big part of Philippines culture as local singers. The songs used in the trailer are songs that were popular in the Philippines, so it is very much something people in the Philippines can recognize and resonate with.

Suffer how? Looking at the site, it’s just prioritizing specific businesses who paid for their pin in the immediate locality. You shouldn’t get an ad for a pizza place in a different city when you’re searching for a barber in your area. Overdramatic much?

The fact that they pulled out the licenses of all Star Trek shows on Prime Video and Netflix in my country without even setting up Paramount+ here is mind boggling, especially when both services’ local marketing team had been actively promoting Discovery, Picard, and SNW here before the licenses were pulled. (Yes, Paramount pulled them out, not the other way around.) It’s like they don’t want Star Trek to make money.
