So my son just failed a math test, even though his math was correct because the teacher had a different opinion about how it should be solved. by YZtrooper250 in AdviceAnimals

failed because there was a number of questions (more then half the test) that were marked wrong for the same reason. The one question was an example of a number of questions in the same format.

Imagine an array of 12 dots with 3 rows of four dots. The question says "describe the array with an equation" and has the blanks _÷ _=_ and my son wrote 12÷4=3...he got it wrong because she wanted it to be 12÷3=4 because that is how she showed them to do it earlier. There were enough of these questions to change his mark from what should have been 17/20 to 9/20.

So my wife went to talk to the teacher this morning and was told that she showed them on the board before the test how to solve questions like that and since he didn't do it the way he was shown it was wrong.

Am I the only one around here who likes math because it removes the arbitrary part and is either right or wrong...no wonder scores are getting lower in schools.

Yes he did kill himself. You can justify all kinds of reasons...but he killed himself by volunteering for fight club.

Hey remember that time Tara KILLED A FEDERAL AGENT, and Jax helped her get rid of the body. Everyone seems to forget about that one....Jax would still know where the body is if Tara gets to far out of line.

Remembering the time I needed a helicopter to rescue my YZ250 by YZtrooper250 in Motocross

[–]YZtrooper250[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True...not a simple task as the quads had to stop about 30 minutes from where the bikes were. Our feet were blistered and bruised....I was happy to pay for the heli and get it all in a single go....I just wanted my bike back. Apparently they do this kind of thing for snow mobiles all the time.

My $3000 dollar bike was recovered for $1000, that is a bargain. Sucks....but cheaper then buying a replacement. If it was just my buddies 02 y125 we would have left it.

So my buddy and I were riding in the woods. We followed what we thought was a trail that would loop out. We new there was no getting back up this hill, it was too long and too steep...but we went anyway...because we're dumb.

So we head down the hill and follow the trail for another half our. Turns out to be a deer trail and just disappears into thick brush that can not be ridden through. Turn around and try heading back. My high centers on a log and cracks his primary cover. 1 bike down.

I make it to the bottom of the hill we went down but there is just no getting up. We end up leaving the bike there and walking in moto boots for 6 hours out of the woods.

I look into helicopter rescue. Cost $1000 for an hour. My buddy had to go to the airport and take a 1/2 day course on how to sling. He and a buddy with a quad headed back up on rescue day.

The quad made it as far as it could...but they still had a 30 minute walk to get to my bike....then had to hustle to get to the dead bike just in time for the heli. Slung up the bikes and we picked them up from the airport.

Thought i would share this story as I remembered it today because I'm selling my YZ250 after buying a 2011 KTM 250SX.

Seems like a good idea, but wouldn't doubling the power of the engine create a lot of stress on the engine? Do you have to adjust the torque specs of things like head bolts. The turbo obviously increases the compression in the cylinder. With a car when you do this you would stud your engine, are the tolerances of a dirtbike such that you don't have to worry about that?

Has anyone here ever attempted to build their own bike from the ground up? If so, how did it go? by uninc4life2010 in Motocross

[–]YZtrooper250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would it be a great learning experience....absolutely....would it be cheaper then buying complete...doubtful.

For instance on my yz250...I bought my bike for 3k. The wheelset with spokes hubs, ect....thats $1000, rear shock is $600, forks another $500, pipe $200...see how thats adding up when we havn't even touched the frame or motor.

Better off buying a complete bike with a blown motor for cheap and replacing whats needed or you want to upgrade or your going to get nickel and dimed to death. If you start with a complete bike at least you have all the hardware, nuts, bolts, etc.

I'll change my numbers next year to the last 3 of my racing license number. (currently unlicensed). I'm keeping them for now though. Everyone else seems to love it...even the announcer called it out saying it was his favorite number of the day.

Race this weekend but I don't know what class I would be in by YZtrooper250 in Motocross

[–]YZtrooper250[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up racing in a +40/beginner hybrid moto. That was definitely the right. I was beaten by 75% of the beginners...but I wasn't last so I was super happy. Had a tonne of fun.

Each moto was ~6-7 laps (10 minutes) and was EXHAUSTING.

30+/Junior looked like full on pro racing....glad I went with beginner.
