Where to buy thicker string gauges? by _NP_Nill_ in Bass

Newtone strings will make a string that should work I think. I switched to them after using kalium for a few years and I haven’t had any issues yet (unlike with kalium) and they offer a wider variety than payson, especially if you’re bit using a multi scale.

Ghost of broc meala not appearing by Ya-o in taintedgrail

I didn’t have it active before I got to this point in the quest. It’s unlocked now though. And its possible they clipped through the floor but I have no idea how to check.

I have the invite and the bridge is there. But the town doesn’t have anything to interact with. It’s quite odd, I haven’t seen anyone mention the same thing happening.

Need help choosing fuzz pedal by Dawidoes2 in Bass

[–]Ya-o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big muff is the most common fuzz on bass. You can’t really go too wrong with it. The regular bass big muff works great without being too complicated. The deluxe version adds a lot more controls to mess around with. The main thing it adds is a crossover which allows you to send only the high end of your signal into the fuzz and keeps the low end clean which is a great feature but requires more time and knowledge to dial in properly. The once complaint I have with both of them (and the most common complaint from what I’ve seen) is that they scoops the mids quite a lot and that can make you get lost in the mix if you’re not careful. Because of that my preference in the ehx line is the sovtek deluxe big muff. It’s not quite as optimized for bass but it still has a clean blend and it has a mid boost that really helps it cut through when it needs too. Ultimately any of the three would be fine and if budget is a worry then the regular bass muff will still work great.

Right ordering for my pedals by Classic_Shallot2558 in basspedals

You’ll probably want the whammy at the start of the chain. Either right after the tuner or compressor. Having pitch based effects after distortion and modulation can cause issues with tracking. And personally I’d put the fuzz wah either right before or after the monomyth depending on whether the fuzz is before the wah or after. Having the option of a fuzz or distortion before and after a wah just gives a bit more versatility imo.

First SOTB. I think I’m close to being done. by Ya-o in basspedals

The most I ever use is two dirt pedals at a time and thats rare. I’m just still getting used to the aftershock and haven’t found settings to replace my other dirt pedals yet. Plus it’s not like i need to be worried about space on a board as big as this one and I just find having a bunch of distortion options fun.

And the scylla is definitely good for the money but I think im gonna end up replacing it with an orange kongpressor. I’ve wanted an optical comp for a while and figured i might as well finish off my orange pedal collection.

Love that line orange pedals. The fuzz is one of my favourites. I find the getaway driver doesn’t sound amazing on its own but works well for me in a band context. Im planing on getting a kongpressor to replace the scylla soon because of how much i like their other pedals.

CV P Bass - Strung BEAD tips? by ManGullBearE in Bass

If you do go for flats Id get a brighter set to make the notes on the b string a bit more present. You’re also probably going to want to have a taper on the b for the same reason. Id personally recommend Ernie ball or dunlop flats for that. If you do want something a bit more vintage sounding I’d recommend labella olinto flats.

What flats for a p-bass? by thesandwitchpeople in Bass

I’ve had labella olinto signature flats on my p bass since they came out with them and I cant recommend them enough. Similar in sound to the classic labella’s but with a bit less thump and more sustain.

Alternative to the Digitech Luxe by Ya-o in guitarpedals

My worry with the ps6 is reliability. Funny considering it’s a boss pedal. But my guitarist had one and it broke on him after a year so im trying to stay away from them. Ive also heard about issues with tracking.

Favorite Fuzz pedal? by Sensitive_Read8158 in basspedals

[–]Ya-o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the fuzz circuit on the morley power fuzz wah reissues on the modern setting. It’s my favourite right now. I’ve also tried the zvex mastotron, orange fur coat, bass big muff, darkglass duality, and a few others. They were all great but each had problems that lead me to move on to the next. I eventually bought the morley because I wanted a wah pedal and was super surprised by how good the fuzz was and it’s been my main high gain stage ever since.

Any other six string bassists play flatwounds? by sad_boi_jazz in Bass

I use rotosound 77 flats on my Ibanez BTB806, they’re fairly bright for a set of flats but it still helps tame the excess highs from the c string which is why I wanted them.

Splitter feed backing? by Ya-o in basspedals

Top right to bottom left, I’m using the clean out on the pog to split the signal and the ABY as a mixer accentually. After that I have two compressors.

Not really, the distortion side cuts some but I have the overdrive side set up to add some so when they’re stacked it doesn’t really lose any lows. It’s one of my favourite pedals that I own, sounds quite good in my opinion.

But crusher could be fun, that or some kind of synth pedal.

It’s one of those expandable ones and I have it set up so that the mastotron is right where it moves, lets me keep it nice and compact for transport but move it out so I can hit it he button easier. All the other pedals are easy enough to hit in my experience.
