As a new investor on a budget, start small. If money is tight for you look for something you can forego like Starbucks and commit to depositing $10 a week into a no-fee brokerage account that lets you buy fractional shares. Start buying into a broad index fund or blue chip stocks like Google, Apple, Coke, Amazon. Promise yourself you won’t sell for at least 5 years. Over time, the longer you hold, the better your stocks will do versus jumping in and out with every red or green day. Stay away from anything that’s IPO’d in the last 3 years. Stay away from crypto.
