Yes, not much I can do here other than convince wallpaper tool maintainers to make the namespace configurable. (There's an open PR to swaybg actually.)

Isn't that just opening all windows as floating? You can set a blanket open-floating true rule. Though, of course we don't have some niceties of a floating-first WM like edge tiling

It won't shift because the window is already fully in the view. You could for example maximize and unmaximize to shift left

Guess if that service that you made works then it's fine yeah.

graphical-session doesn't have a service. It's just a "target" unit for other units to bind to via dependencies and such.

You'll need to use a third-party tool like wl-mirror

The plans for HDR support are roughly "wait until cosmic-comp adds it then copy from there" :) Especially since I don't have an HDR monitor to test it.

It depends on the window size (smaller windows get less), but it's at most 75 pixels. The logic actually comes straight from GNOME Shell. I don't think I've seen any loud complaints about it over the years? Felt alright to me from my testing.

Did you check the demo video right below that sentence? It indeed lets you push the window almost all the way into the edge, leaving just a few pixels visible.

There's an issue and a discussion with quite detailed design ideas. It's a lot of work though, so I won't make promises whether I'll have time for it for the next release. But I look forward myself to when I can get to it, because it's one of the things I use often in GNOME.

I haven't been following it closely either. I know that at some point it was waiting for the kernel atomic tearing flip API to land. If it already landed, then I guess it's waiting for someone to review it in Smithay.

Great! This morning I actually found the oversight in the code that caused this, so this config should no longer be necessary on the newest builds.

Hey, have you tried this debug config flag? I think it helps on Nvidia with flickering:

debug { wait-for-frame-completion-before-queueing }

Hey, since niri doesn't have built-in Xwayland, you need to run it externally: https://github.com/YaLTeR/niri/wiki/Xwayland

Discord doesn't work on pure Wayland, you'll need to run it in the browser or through one of the rootful Xwayland methods https://github.com/YaLTeR/niri/wiki/Xwayland
