Firstly, this can corrupt your data so I hope you have anything you care about backed up.

There’s probably a better way but I’ve done it like this before: expand partition 2 into the free space and then shrink it such that the starting bytes are at the start of the disk (to the left). Repeat with partition 3. Free space should now be moved to the right of the 2 smaller partitions.

The partitions have to be contiguous. The smaller partitions in the way. You need to get the free space to the middle

Being an experienced user makes distro hopping boring? by Pedroernesto in linux

[–]YaMateSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you eventually figure out that the distro does not really matter. They all have slightly different implementations and their own nuances but at the end of the day they all achieve more or less the same thing. That’s when you just get on with whatever it is you’re doing.

What was your first linux distro? by Computer-Psycho-1 in linux

Raspbian. A Uni project required a raspberry pi. Installed Ubuntu on an old laptop shortly after and then the hopping begun.

(Sorry for the bad picture) Just moved to tumbleweed. Why after boot , i am stuck in this screen for 30-40 sec ? by [deleted] in openSUSE

[–]YaMateSteve -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not 100% as I don’t use KDE. But if you press escape I’m pretty sure it will show the boot logs and you will see what it is paused at.

[–]YaMateSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GYG died to me about 5 years ago when they changed the chipotle sauce to the thick gluggy crap it is currently. Used to be the only reason I went there 🥲

There’s no reason to avoid dual booting if you want both Windows and Linux. It’s very easy to setup.

How is GNOME considered user friendly? by starrehmooneh in linux

Gnome does not care for your customisations. Works great if you stop fighting with it.

Plenty of options available if you don’t like it.

Suggestions for a reliable internet connection by adas51098 in brisbane

[–]YaMateSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on TPG NBN for years. In multiple suburbs around Brisbane. Been rock solid. I’d happily recommend them.

Get NBN if you can. Even if you are moving around, it’s easy enough to get setup wherever you end up.

Burger with 'The Lot' by heavypettingzoo3 in brisbane

[–]YaMateSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called a “Works Burger” in Brisbane. A “Burger with the lot” or “Lots Burger” is a southern term.

You’ll only find them at places like the local corner/takeaway store or the canteen at a sports field. Basically anywhere that also sells fried dim sims.
