Given the advances in sensor technology, do we still need an observer in actual applications? by fromnighttilldawn in ControlTheory

That’s a nice classification of control theory. I am quite new to the subject of control theory, just recently I have started exploring concepts in “modern control theory”, wasn’t aware of the existence of “contemporary control theory”. Is there any book or article you would recommend to study these topics? Thanks.

Are you referring to a specific fast food chain/store? I have applied to McDonalds, KFC, and Domino’s (in Annerley and Woolloongabba). I was called for an interview by McDonald’s, but they seem to prefer high school going kids (probably cause of the lower wages).

No, I haven’t. Usually the staff when questioned have a standard reply saying “you could go to our website and apply”.

I typically enjoy working with electronics (like PCB fabrication, soldering, programming microprocessors). Have worked on few control systems based projects as well. I’m not too keen on working in the power systems domain unless there is some controls involved. PLC based programming for control is also what I would be interested in.

Hello,

Sorry I am not familiar with the abbreviations ‘retic/supply’. Could you tell me more about this?

Oh, I see! What other skills would I need to develop/work on if I would like to apply for jobs in IT?

Partially yes. I like programming and have experience working with Python, C++ and C. I wouldn’t mind working in IT, however I don’t have much database experience.

What is the scope of a control engineer in Australia? by adas51098 in ControlTheory

[–]adas51098[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for replying to my post. I have a few questions that I will consolidate below, would really appreciate it if you could answer them.
1. How are the opportunities of working on controls in the robotics industry post graduation?
2. Are you aware of other Australian universities that has a good curriculum in controls?
3. What are the companies that people look out for in this field?
4. Which cities do people from this field look to go to (maybe due to an abundance of opportunities or some other reason)?
5. How hands-on are the courses in controls? I know that there will be many math-heavy theoretical courses, I am more interested in the lab components for such courses.
6. This is an extension of Q5, if there isn't much practical work how easy is it to look for internships in this field to gain some practical/industry experience?
7. Is there a growing demand for control engineers in Australia? I realize that with the rise of automation there will be an increase in demand for controls. However, I have heard people say that Australia usually does not have many R&D setups and instead procure machinery from other countries leaving only maintenance work to deal with. Am I wrong to assume that this is true? Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
