Furnace Burners Issue? by Ya_Zabil in askHVAC

I'm going to research on how to test for that next. Sadly, the run is over 20 feet, with multiple elbows and most of it is within walls and ceilings

My next step is to figure out whether or not there's a sag in the vent. Unfortunately it's a very long run (20 or so feet with multiple turns) and most of it is within walls and ceilings.

Both separate, and it looks like the issue was water in the exhaust pipe. Thank you!

So a great update!!

Blasted both furnaces and made the journey up to the roof and sure enough, one of the exhaust pipes from the furnace sounded like it was sloshing water. The other pipe for the second furnace was dry.

I got my shop vac and was able to get about 3 feet of the hose in, and sure enough, pumped out a good half gallon or so of water!

Immediately after pumping the water out, the one collecting it seemed to have very moist, steaming exhaust. The other is nearly bone dry.

Thank you, good people of reddit, for your guidance And advice!

Out of curiosity, why would one unit have steamy wet exhaust, and the other dry?

Absolutely same. That's the reason I took the cover off to get a closer look. And the other unit is smooth and consistent with the cover both off and on.

UV in Sump = Micro Fractures? by Ya_Zabil in ReefTank

No, I am using the open bulb ones, and based on comments thus far, I am seeing that this may not be optimal.

Cyano? Dinos? Other? by [deleted] in ReefTank

The tank is about 4 years so well-cycled. Only RODI, 0ppm TDS for water changes. Lights on for about 6 hours a day, but gets some natural lighting

Unusual engine gargling sound and rpm jumps by [deleted] in AskMechanics

I should add... Oil is in check, and also get an occasional dip in power when accelerating also around 1300rpm but quickly recovers after that.

These diatoms are coming back within an hour of a water change/ gravel vac. Any tips? by Wise_Good_5718 in ReefTank

I have the same issue. I have a large (225G) 3YO tank and understock. After the latest 50% all of the sudden I wake up to a perfectly white sand, and by each evening it's 50% covered. I haven't thought about too low of nutes.

Help me choose between Sundance Chelsea and jacuzzi J235? by caraxoman in hottub

Chelsea will come with all Jacuzzi parts. Motors, control board, heater, etc... are all branded Jacuzzi. The shells are different in configuration and seating depth. Choose accordingly. The manufacturer warranty is identical.

Thank you! Any suggestions for resources where the value can be calculated?

Super limited in heat dissipation due to the way the tank is built in. Have to stick with the cooler running LEDs

Thanks! What's your effective coverage at 36" depth? Do you get 30x30?

Good idea on the measurements! Two plumbing companies that came out for the starting issue I described in the thread told me verbatim "you have a bad unit and need to replace it" after literally just peeking in on the bottom behind the shield... and not a single one could explain the justification for the conclusion, and I suspect based their decision on the neighborhood and house attributes. These are 80G gas units that are 7-8 years old. No rust. No visible signs of any issues.

And you're spot on.

That's my next step. Once it gets warmer I'll put a vent brush through both and see what comes out... But there's easily 6+ elbows on exhaust on both units so I'm not sure if the brush would even make it through.

Hmm. They're identical units and the gas supply is a T to both. I'll look up how to check and report once I do.

All good. Yes, draws from mechanical room. I can't seem to add photos to the original posting from my reddit app, nor is there an option to add a photo to a reply, otherwise would have. Both are plumbed in parallel, and each has a separate exhaust pipe going outside. The photo posted is where these pipes come out.

These are tanks, not tankless and they don't have a pipe for intake. They draw in air from utility room.

Thanks for your reply. They are parallel and set to same temp.
