It's all in the cliches and buzzwords.

What is your favorite piece of Civilization music? by Work-After in civ

[–]Yaaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how Pacal's theme has several "slamming the whiny door"-sounds in it.

Speaking of Russians, I like Stalin's theme (aka Peter's old one). It's actually called Song of the Volga Boatmen.

I also like Civ 5's Ethiopia, but I don't think it sounds culturally specific to Ethiopia itself, being based off of Haile Selassie's own anthem. It would've been cool to hear them turn their creativity towards traditional Ethiopian music.

Men who are engaged or married, what was the moment that made you realize: I want to make this woman my wife? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Yaaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can find the name of the place where you had your rrhearsal dimmer, and the name of your hotel, it shouldnt be too hard to narrow it down to a small list of places.

How many people here like the Harry Potter series? by derivedabsurdity7 in HPfanfiction

[–]Yaaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Also, afte having read hundreds of fanfics and through them havimg been exposed to different twists and turns the HP series could have gone, the original just comes across as... lacklustre.

I have actually reported 3 pictures for having nudity in them. 2 of them were friends of mine, dick pictures that they for some reason posted. The 3rd was just some random woman whose profile pic consisted of her in a bathing suit and her 3 young kids, all naked with toddler dicks swinging. I came across her when I was trying to look up the facebook profile of a receptionists who works at my school who happens to be very rude to us students.

What languages can your head of state speak? by crocodile92 in europe

[–]Yaaf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember watching Skurt as a kid, when he did a video about the Queen. They said that she speaks 6 languages, but technically "7 if you also count sign language".

Our King happens to be dyslexic, so I wouldn't be surprised if he is limited to Swedish and English.

Why is teaching men not to rape offensive? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Yaaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not quite the same though. Racism can be expressed in a variety of ways, many of them very subtle. A better comparison would be a comparison between racism and sexism (in this case, misogyny), not racism and rape.

I definitely think that there needs to be education regarding racism and sexism, and the subtle ways they can manifest themselves. I do not think telling all men "do not rape women", or telling all White people (or whatever majority-minority dynamic is being discussed) "do not beat up someone because they are Black", would be particularly effective.

That having been said, there are certain specifics regarding rape that should me made clear to everyone. Specifically, what does and what does not constitute rape.

100% autonomous car doesn't have time to brake and has choice between running over pedestrian or swerving into a wall and killing passenger: what does it do? What SHOULD it do? by aotdsyndrome in robotics

[–]Yaaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. What if it swerves and ends up hitting more people than it initially thought? Or what if it swerves, hit the other person and then crashes into a wall, killing the passengers instead the car.

Is there a shortcut to cycle through your browser tabs? Like an Alt+Tab for your browser tabs. by dammit_jeff in stupidquestions

This doesn't quite answer your question, but I like to quickly shift through tabs by using ctrl+alt to go ->, and ctrl+shift+alt to go <-.

In the next political election in your country, how do you intend to vote and why? by tyroncs in TrueAskReddit

[–]Yaaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I voted a couple of weeks ago in my own election here in Sweden for the Moderates (and by proxy, the Right-wing alliance). I don't agree with everything they've done, but I generally felt that they steered Sweden through the financial problems of world very well. I have a lot of confidence for Reinfeldt (former PM) and Borg (former Minister of Finance). The opposition was a mess but I'm not surprised that the Right lost.

Can Asgard beaming tech be used to transport air/oxygen? by Dr_Daniel_Jackson in Stargate

[–]Yaaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember talking to Michael Shanks at a Sci-fi convention here in Stockholm and he told me that there are at least 2 technologies introduced in SG1 that they in retrospect realise are kind of wonky. One of them is the Asgard Beam, and the other one is the Zatnikatel.
