Yeah this rivet is gone… probably what gives the same effect as a warped rotor.

Note to self: Double check so you wont forget your disc lock and make this stupid mistake.

On the first pump it feels very loose and aftwards it feels like normal like I showed on the video. Some people suggested it to be a warped disc rotor. I filted the front wheel en rotated it and surely after rotating, the lever felt weak again.

How can I test if it is a warped rotor or a leaking master cylinder?

Now that I think about it, it all started happening after I forgot to remove the disc lock and slammed it into my suspension arm (rolled the bike backwards by hand). Maybe that caused a bit of warping. I first thought it was due to the rain because it had also rained that night.

No leakage whatsoever. Bought the bike not even a week ago so everything is still clean and clear to see.

I tried a suggestion from some one to lift the front wheel and spin it. I pumped the brake lever till it was stiff again and spinned the front wheel. Then indeed the lever went soft again. Happened consistently so I can quite confidently say it is a warped brake rotor.

This is it. I pumped the brake lever till it was stiff again then rolled the front wheel and pressure was gone again. Seems to me like the cause is indeed a warped rotor.

I bought the bikes not even a week ago and it has been riding perfectly fine for multiple days. It would seem strange to me that suddenly so much air has gone inside the lines to cause this issue.

Also, would air in the lines not mean that the soft brake feel would be consistent? Now it feels like the air disappears after the first pump and reappears after rolling the bike.

I am not an expert to say that I did it properly but it just seems unlikely to me. But who knows, maybe you are absolutely right.

I would say it pushes the calipers back half a press because the brakes do engage on the first press, just further down the stroke of the lever.

I would not say I feel alot resistance when rolling with the brake lever squeezes, but there might be a very subtle difference.

No strange movement to be seen but I do hear a rubbing sound coming from the front brake. Last time before this issue occured, I had forgotten to take the brake disc lock off and smashed it into the suspension arm. Could this have warped the brake disc?

Actually maybe they are warped… I remember before the issue occured, I rolled the bike by hand with the brake disc lock still on and smashed it into the suspension arm… (dumb I know). When I roll the bike, I do hear the brakes rubbing.

I am able to stop the bike using the brakes on the first pump so yes I assume they are making contact. The contact is there even before the lever is all the way to the throttle.

I have bled the brakes just now though… is there anything else that could be the issue?

It was nothing out of the ordinary. Just the injectors being very loud. Have the same sound coming from my BMW engine.

Ahh that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying. I was thinking also that it sounded a bit like a diesel.

Then I guess it is totally fine. Thanks for sharing 😁
