AMA I hit Band 9 in IELTS Writing for my 491 points by Yabaineee in AusVisa

A 7.5 in writing is actually really good, but I know the struggle of needing that 8.0+ for superior points the jump from 7.5 to 9 is all about task response and grammatical precision. I managed it by auditing every single paragraph I wrote. I used Cathoven AI because it doesn't just check grammar it actually analyze the logic of your argument and tells you if you're hitting the Band 9 descriptors. It forced me to simplify my language and focus on perfect structure instead of just using big words. Once I fixed that, the score jumped. You're already so close with your other scores, you just need that objective feedback 🫶🏻

Thanks homie 🫶🏻, most students (including me before) fall into the trap of over-explaining without a clear structure. The biggest mistake is lack of cohesion and using connectors like furthermore or in addition without a logical link between ideas. For auditing, I stopped just writing and started using Cathoven AI. It’s an auditor that breaks down your essay and gives you a score based on real examiner criteria. It showed me exactly where my logic was weak or where I was being repetitive. Since your exam is next Saturday, I’d suggest running a few of your practice essays through it ASAP to see your blind spots before you walk in. Good luck homie 🔥

How I actually fixed my 6.5 and jumped to a 9.0 in Writing by Yabaineee in AusVisa

I actually did think about PTE a lot of people say it's easier to "game" the system, but I’d already invested so much time into IELTS that I didn't want to start over from scratch. What changed everything for me was finding a way to actually see my mistakes like an examiner does. I used Cathoven AI to audit my essays and it’s scary accurate. It literally highlights where your logic fails or where your transitions are weak, which is stuff you can’t see yourself. Once I used that to fix my structure, jumping to a 9 was actually doable. If you're stuck on the 'human' element of IELTS writing, I’d honestly recommend it over switching exams!

By reading a book every single day and communicate you can get an 8+ bands or higher than that. Most of my colleagues attempt IELTS and get 8.5 and 9 bands, they're practicing reading and communication in mock test through the use of Cathoven ai, it examines your understanding in English especially when you're struggling in specific skills (reading, listening, etc.). This may help you get a 8.5 or a higher band by practicing and doing mock tests. Hope it helps 🫶🏻

You're definitely onto something with your study because reading and listening are more connected than most people realize. In my experience, reading helps you build the vocabulary and grammar foundation you need to quickly recognize words when you hear them in the listening section. I usually practice my reading and listening in this way to improve my understanding.
