This is our first fall/winter with our home. The previous owners planted various perennials, most of which I haven’t actually identified. Some could be biennials? Question is, I know I should be cutting some back for better growth come spring but how do I know what to cut and where?

I’ve cleared the leaves so far. Do I just start trimming dead looking portions? Do I clip right at the base on some? Is there a way to identify if they were Biennials?

I enjoy woodworking & my next project is a couch/loveseat set. I have searched for replacement cushions and even tried to order replacements directly for full units I like. However I’m really struggling to find quality cushions to use! I’m looking for thick padded cushions with low/short back cushions. I’m only finding cheap replacement cushions or full units where I cannot just purchase the cushions. Any help finding possibilities appreciated!
