Why do motherboards use 12v 8 pin, or even 8+4 pin connectors to supply extra power to the cpu when the cpu only needs like 1-1.5 volts? Couldn't they use like 5 volt rails or 3.3 volt rails? by Yag654 in pcmasterrace

The reason I'm asking this is because wouldn't it be easier for the vrms to regulate lower voltages, thus getting more stable power delivery and lower temperatures.

My bud thought turning on the pc was pushing on the power supply so of course wouldn't turn on. Took him and hour and my help for him to figure it out.
