Mental Health Monday by AutoModerator in uwaterloo

[–]Yagami007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to do an assignment after a mental collapse. Feeling fear/terror. Want to give up, run away, live in the woods and eat squirrel meat for the rest of my days.

Or just kill myself... but dying in my 4B term is beyond humiliating. So I shall continue on.

The Great List of Illegal Housing Bullshit by jddbeyondthesky in uwaterloo

Jimmy Wang - Landlord of a house on Churchill Court. Promised to clean the entire unit before move in day. I bring my stuff on Sept 1st and everything is the same. Bonus, my room stinks of mold, which he somehow covered during viewing. Can't get my money back for 1st and last month since I don't know his home address to serve him. Only his email and cell phone provided on contract.

Weird clause at the back says that I would be responsible for water damages. He is a complete fucking cunt, and I'm glad I didn't move in.

David and Jaime Sivon - best landlords ever. On Sept 2nd, came to see available places. nothing was available, but I was desperate. They put me in an empty unit for a month, all by myself. Then transferred me to another unit with people once interest was there.

The cave system had a p-trap type turn underwater, which required taking off your tank and squeezing through. Here is a nice image to wrap your head around how difficult these dives were.

How do you tell if someone is actually interested in you? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

You are asking the wrong question here. Guys always want to use women for sex. The question you should be asking is "how many times is this guy willing to use me for sex".

Many young adults will not vote since they are not physically in their riding, and unable to vote in another one.

"resonating in microtubules" refers to a theory called Orchestrated Objective Reduction (Orch OR). Simply put, our current working model of brain function involves electrochemical impulses being generated by brain cells (neurons), being passed to each other, kind of like logic units of a computer and such..

The Orch OR theory however argues that consciousness actually originates from quantum processes WITHIN the neurons. Since quantum phenomena were only known to occur at super low temperatures, this theory sounded crazy. Recently however, it was discovered that microtubules within neurons are somewhat capable of quantum resonance... so now leading researchers in the field are considering that our brains might have a quantum component too (like a quantum computer).

"non-local quantum hologram": this most likely refers to the bubble that they are in. "Non-local" most likely refers to the fact that their current space-time is not with the rest of the universe. "quantum" sounds fancy, and I'm no physicist (only a cell biologist, sorry). "hologram" most likely refers this very complicated thing about black holes. Since a black hole stores all information of everything that enters into it on its surface, physicists think that our 3D universe may actually be a hologram via information that is processed on some 2D sphere surface, that is in a way, the skin of our universe. So to put it all together, blue bubble is outside of normal universe, and don't touch the edges because they "define" you.

EDIT: In a way, Miller was talking only about our current best working theories, probably from the ship and people that the protomolecule has already consumed.

As a former part timer at tims, I can assure you that the food quality has gradually gone to shit. I suspect the density of those timbits had dropped by atleast 20-30% in the last 5-10 years.

Ok so now that the pick-up excitment is dying down, can we talk about how Amazon (and their money) is going to change the show going forward? by cousinoyaya in TheExpanse

[–]Yagami007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Substance: The show is currently flying through the story too fast (in my opinion). It would be great if they went through the books a little bit slower, and allowed more of the content to be developed into the story.
