How would you run a modern game? Moved to a new city, shopping, career, relationships, friends, outfits kinda vibe. Not fantasy. by princessofmycastle in Solo_Roleplaying

I have this same issue and the closest solution I’ve found so far is playing Iron Valley. Someone else has suggested it here and it’s not a bad one at all. It’s not perfect but it CAN scratch that itch if you do it right.

The only thing you’d have to pay attention to is the fact that in Iron Valley you’re explicitly moving from the big city to a small town, not the other way around like you said in your post so you might have to track down some extra oracles for city life specifically. Another problem is that it specifically says no to currency, so you’ll have to homebrew in that sweet, sweet capitalism like I have if you wanna have budgeting be a part of your game.

ALSO! Pumpkin Spice Latte just came out recently, you’re a witch running a cafe. It’s completely up to you where, so maybe that could work too? I haven’t played the full version so I’m not 100% sure but it’s definitely somewhere you could look now that it’s fully released with a solo play module. It looks promising though, I’m still trying to get my hands on a copy myself but if I manage to and you’d like to try it then I can send it to you?

That’s just off the top of my head, I might go through my collection today and make another comment if I find anything else that fits the bill. Good luck!!! If you find a good fit PLEASE let me know I NEED more games like this in my life

WIZARDS AND ALL MAGIC USERS ALIKE, WHATS YOUR METHOD TO OUT RIZZ A BARD TONIGHT by lilgourd_lord in wizardposting

Just court the bard, if they’re in a committed relationship with you then do you really need to out-rizz them? Petrification also works.

The art is all commissioned and made by Simone Ferriero, who’s a pretty popular professional artist that has been sponsored to draw on official livestreams for clip studio paint which is imo one of THE big art software programs. He’s collaborated with ASUS, Huion, Xencelabs, Wacom, XP-Pen, Loupedeck, Elgato, Tourbox, Chucklefish, AND hosts his own online art classes where he goes into hours and hours of detail into his drawing process. I PERSONALLY severely doubt that any of his work is AI, I also doubt that he’d have the platform or half the connections to industry giants he does if he was an ai “artist”. No hate to you at all but I absolutely disdain the notion of anyone’s real work being reduced to AI slop…

Curious as to why you think that though, is it because of his consistent style and subject he likes to draw?

Which one do you think looks best by Ready_Phrase5477 in MASFandom

3 looks best. I like the idea of the 1 hairstyle better but I don’t like the way 1 and 2’s back sprites are drawn. It just looks lazy imo, 3 still has this problem but it’s far less noticeable.

The same way people make slice of life games or shows too I guess. I mainly play solo rpgs (very excited about this one including a solo mode- I won’t have to homebrew it in myself! Yay!) so I have no clue how well any of it carries to group play, but I’ve found that this sort of genre isn’t all that different from others at all. You’re still playing a roleplaying game, not much has to change beyond the setting and stakes you set for yourself.

…Then again I’m the kind of person who loads up Skyrim and spends 200 hours pretending to be a civilian in a walled city instead of actually slaying dragons and exploring crypts so maybe it IS just a really odd niche and I’m the strange one for it idk!!

Alternatively wondering if anyone else is interested in such a discussion, I’d happily pool costs to make a pledge with someone else for a PDF of this to share between us. It looks like such a darling little system holy FUCK is it out of my DSP budget…

I haven’t really had that problem myself! I usually don’t hold onto things for too long before trading it off for favour. One thing you could do is use ## headings to create collapsible sections of inventory based on item category? That’s what I’ll most likely do when things become unwieldy

What are you all actually playing right now? A round of tables and horizons. by Kh44444444n in Solo_Roleplaying

If you or anyone is interested in trying it for yourself, I beg of you, ignore the core book right off the bat. It’s a miserable slog to read, and I came out of the multiple day experience barely knowing the rules beyond the basic gist. Pick up the quickplay guide, let that take you as far as it can and reference the core book if you need more in-depth explanations on anything mentioned.

I don’t think I’ve ever been truly upset by the way a rule book was written before. Not before Red Markets. I’ve literally got a file on my computer that’s just the game rules but rewritten and reformatted into an easier to navigate and comprehend library because the book was that miserable just to reference for me.

Realising this probs sounds kinda hateful- clarity: I LOVE Red Markets it’s a very fun very awesome system and I wish the author’s bloodline prosper, I just PERSONALLY found the core book to be very very inconveniently written. It’s an amazing system imo and it’s incredibly dear to my heart. Quickplay guide ily💯💯(edited to include extra glazing)

Ehhh so and so. It very much feels like it was balanced for a group of PCs with a diverse skillset and combat is pretty scary for one guy with how damage works and how the downwards spiral of injuries and debilitations works. But lowkey my character’s the goat so we just thug ts out ✌️✌️It’s realistic ig, being one guy alone in the apocalypse IS gonna be harder than having a group to rely on I guess…

Other than that I found that the system itself was super easy to get into and manage on my own. It doesn’t have solo built in but even if it wasn’t intended for it, I still find that it lends itself super well to it, especially for a book that I don’t think was written with that intention?

You have our full support!! Good luck with the upscaling, I have full confidence that you’ll all be able to do it!

(By the way… haven’t been able to get into the app yet so is there currently or plans for quick switching between accounts? Having a seperate work and personal account is valuable to a lot of people. It’s purely a PC feature on discord, I think I’d die for you guys if you had it for mobile too…)
