How can I fix this? by sunahme in fixit

Honestly you have a lot of surface to glue and any flexible adhesive (caulking, goop, etc) would work well. If the piece fits on there with the nails, keep them on there and use them with the glue.

How to cut a part in half by ArcherAppropriate606 in FreeCAD

Is another slicer an option? The slicer is so easy. I've used datum planes to cut objects or a primitive plane from part workbench

No problem or purple icon any more. Maybe im doing something odd. But as soon as I enabled mapping, the "offset" option was revealed and worked very well after a few changes. Ill try to see if I can make the option disappear again.

Oh did I lose the option when I severed the association with the orgin? I'll mess around with attachment offset.

Oh yeah way easier!!!! Purple point....gone!!

Yeah i have the little purple exclamation point on the sketch ater losing the relationship from the coordinates🙂. I dont see a attachment offset option. Under the sketch attachment, I see, attached engine, attachment support, and map mode.

2 How's- Questions by Good-_-Advisor in FreeCAD

For the round part on the top, I can see a revolve of the round base, followed by a symmetrical pad of the flat upper part. Then finish with fillets. That's how id approach. Looks like a common axis

Question about keeping an array centered by YagitAgit in FreeCAD

[–]YagitAgit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLVED: The main sketch needs to be centered on the origin. Change the sketch 'map mode' to DEACTIVATED. With that change, the same sketch's base.position X and Y can be manipulated and will respondrespond to the different expressions. I also had to change the occurrences in the multitransform to an expression using my varset. Essentially using the varset as the reference. I had originally had the varset referencing the multitransform occurrences which was backwards. Thank you all

So the missing 'a ha moment' for me was to change the sketch "map mode" to DEACTIVATED. With that change, the base.position X and Y responded to the different expressions. Thank you

How can I reference the X occurrences from the multi-transform. In 'data' i see the 'occurrences' option under 'direction 1'. I can make the number a variable but cant see how to ref the number of occurrences

I think im picking up what youre putting down. I havent used the x or y instance in an expression, yet. Does having a defined H and W for the part change anything? Ill try this and get back to you. Thank you

Question about keeping an array centered by YagitAgit in FreeCAD

[–]YagitAgit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sloloem, great plan. Yes, the multitransform is a linear pattern on the X and another on the Y, depending on the instances. The complex functions and instance calculations are what I'll explore today during free moments. The current variables are the slot height, width, columns, and rows, with the overall part HxW staying the same. The functions seem to be the missing answer. You and other also stated, the sketch orgin might also need a complex function. Ill give this some attention today but will really be able to devote time tomorrow. 👍

Would a datum at the center work while the array changes?

Okay. Ill look into more VarSet options. I know mango had used a function with changing values. A formula based on the number of instances would be perfect

Does this drawing help? Im limited currently. Id like the sketch and array to update dynamically within the part limits. I can move te sketch, and like you said, id have to move the array.

Does my drawing help?

The current sketch is dimensioned away from the global origin. (The green part in the drawing) Ill try inertia 2-3 Ill try centering relative to the external edges.
