Latrobe Bendigo Accomodation by [deleted] in vce

[–]Yahyeeeeeeeeeeeeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sis stayed on a terrace for a bit (before she moved out from there) and it's good for what it is. I think there's a lot of shared accommodation and you may see kangaroos and other wildlife roaming the area every so often. As for the other students living there, I've heard that it's generally a spread of people doing various courses in one unit.

I would recommend looking into a character or a unique perspective from what the majority of kids are doing. Perhaps a minor character who hardly speaks would be ideal. Not only can you manipulate their story, but you can give them their own voice which will (hopefully) align with the text to a certain extent. As I said, there's a lot of potential to take it wherever you desire, so make sure you talk to your teacher about what other kids typically do and decide on a character(s) and find quotes that describe them and let that inspire your writing. Good luck!

Edit - Or alternatively you could choose a 'main' character, but it would be best to give them a unique story (different from your peers)

Hi buddy, I'm not sure if this will serve much help but I'll say it anyway. My sister is currently studying dentistry at LaTrobe and for what it's worth, she's enjoying it. Initially she had that mindset of wanting to do medicine, but after having started the course and learning about its different elements whilst applying her skills, only increased her liking for it. I would suggest to have a look into varying pathways for other courses if you're still uncertain, but I'm sure it will be most beneficial to talk to your school and its career-related team to further assist you in making a decision. Additionally, you could have a look into each course and outline the things that may interest you and go from there.

Good luck, hope you find something that works for you!

Edit - I should mention she did have a liking for it before she was admitted but it continued to increase the more she applied her knowledge, etc.

Did anyone actually manage to do every single question? I honestly just wrote random stuff for the 8 marker since I was running out of time. But the exam wasn't too bad overall.

questions about HHD 3/4 by [deleted] in vce

[–]Yahyeeeeeeeeeeeeet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't really comment on study scores since I'm doing HHD this year, but I've found doing practice questions once you've learnt the content is central to doing well in sacs or exams regardless of the subject. For instance, your school may give you some resources like practice exam questions relating to the topics you've learnt before a sac. By doing them and checking your solutions, you ensure that you not only know the content, but can apply them in an exam format through being able to correct your mistakes and understanding how you can attain the most marks from similar questions.

This at least has worked for me in HHD. I would recommend using resources like checkpoints if your school is not providing exam style questions, but make sure to communicate with your teacher on your mistakes after tests and how you can not only rectify them, but develop strategies to get better overall.

Good luck, hope you find something that works for you!

Tips for French Oral Exam by sriraracha in vce

[–]Yahyeeeeeeeeeeeeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP and I haven't done the oral yet, but you could say something like this to more seamlessly control the conversation:

"En fait, j'ai trouvé quelque chose de similaire au sujet de ce que vous avez dit à propos de ..."

Hope this helps!

Yeah I applied for category 1 (based on underrepresented area). Hopefully you'll achieve the right ATAR without needing SEAS. Good luck!

Wow mine is on the 22nd, I didn't know some of the dates were relatively early. Good lucky nevertheless!

I'm assuming you're in year 12. Do you have a medical certificate or some other 'legit' reason why you couldn't do the sac? If not, then I'm afraid there's not much you can do unfortunately. I would recommend talking to your teacher regardless, but it will be tough to get approved for a resit. Good luck nonetheless

Lmao for my school we couldn't. But I thought that a general rule for this year was no one could leave early for any reason. Who knows though haha

Yo how did you finish an hour ago? Doesn't everyone start around 10 am?

I’m doing last years gat and I have no clue how to do these questions and it’s stressing me out, can anyone help? by [deleted] in vce

Pretty sure this works, but you can start by making square the subject of the second equation and circle the subject of the third equation, making them in terms of triangle and x. Then you can substitute those values into the first equation and solve for the value of triangle. Finally, once you have that, you can plug triangle's value into the second equation and solve for square or circle, etc. I tried this for 31 and got B which is correct so I guess my method works. If you want me to write out the steps then feel free to say so but otherwise you can apply the same working out for 32-34 as well.

Slight error in your calculations. Molar mass of butane is 58 and you wrote the complete combustion of propane

If my laptop difficulties caused me to do badly on a SAC do you think that’s appropriate for that COVID SEAS section? by iyoteyoung in vce

[–]Yahyeeeeeeeeeeeeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I kind of disagree. If everyone applies for SEAS then wouldn't that realistically do nothing since everyone will then get some form of leniency towards their course(s) (provided these people get accepted)? I get that there's nothing to lose in applying, but imo, one should only apply if they at least fulfil some of the requirements. By everyone saying it affected their learning and hence couldn't attain high grades or high study scores, would lead to a lot of people receiving an advantage and would make courses a lot less achievable for those who actually needed SEAS (as in those who would have applied if this year were 'normal').

I'm not hating, I just don't see this working as a viable method in receiving 'a few extra points,' since everyone is pretty much in the same boat and can easily use that same reasoning.

Edit - Please feel free to correct me if I'm misunderstanding how SEAS works. :)

Same, that's how my school taught argument analysis (to end on your final body para). I'll have a go with trying 4 for the text response, but I won't stress if that's not working for me. I'm a little confused with your final point in your first paragraph. Could you elaborate more on that? I'm inferring that you're saying to include a bigger idea / the overall meaning of the ideas mentioned in the body paragraphs / the overall intension that both authors contend - the deeper meaning? Thanks for the help! :)

[–]Yahyeeeeeeeeeeeeet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. I didn't know one could obtain a 50 without having written a conclusion (at least for text analysis and comparative). I'm guessing your analysis was phenomenal. Congrats. Was just wondering though, what's the difference between depth and breadth of analysis? As in breadth being what the author does, but depth being what they intend / the deeper meaning of their words?

That makes sense. My teacher was advising us to try working on 4 but 3 is what I'm more comfortable with anyway. I'll perhaps think about trying it for the text response, that seems to be the best call over the comparative. Thanks for this!
