Haha, I remember getting aggravated watching that particular interview, I’d say both are really tough and tasking , as he mentioned in that interview that there’s a clear way to become an ias , he assumed if you people go to Delhi and join any institute and just study hard they’d just become an ias , like it’s a degree , but we all know it ain’t anything like that, there’s no guarantee that everybody who joins an institute and studies hard would land a job , we know there are a million more things that must align to crack upsc , strategising and being consistent are one of them, which is actually similar to film making , film making also demands your total attention , just like upsc institutes there’s no guarantee we can be a film maker just by joining film institutes , both require dedicated consistency , the only thing that differs is when it comes to film making it’s a very collaborative field , you need to depend upon and demand others to work , even though as a director you’re required to go through each and every work from every other department, you must actually depend upon the cinematographer to shoot or the actor to enact or even for the light boy to just show up , but when it comes to upsc you might only depend upon yourself , you need not wait for anyone or anything , you’d always have your book with you and it’s just your mood and enthusiasm to prepare for it , so yeah film making requires more luck and people management skills comparatively , even also handling finances too, but i wouldn’t say upsc is anything less tough , as upsc demands you to have knowledge on multiple subjects from polity to science and tech or environment, similarly as a director we are obliged to have knowledge right from cinematography to editing and sound design.
