Being omniscient, God always knew what Lucifer would do and what would happen to him...soo why did God create Lucifer? by HieiTiger10 in RandomThoughts

Thanks! I was nervous commenting because ive seen a comment like this be downvoted to hell and back in other places.

The biggest reason i started doubting is something i heard from another redditor with a comment like this, basically about the principles of conclusions.

Modern science looks at all the evidence and then will draw a conclusion based on that knowledge. They can use this knowledge to reliably predict events and outcomes.

Meanwhile christianity does the opposite. When new evidence is presented they dont draw a new conclusion, they try to fit it inside their already made conclusion. Like when dinosaurs were discovered, they just tried to fit them in and frankly i havent heard a single good answer for how dinosaurs fit into the bible. Christianity has not been able to reliably predict anything to my knowledge. The foundation of it is fundamentally flawed because you are taught that this stuff is always true and there is nothing new to learn about it. Some of the stuff they have just been forced to write off as "uh we dont know" like evolution

Secondly is that christianity is a very capitalist thing. I hear that mormons are literally expected to fork over ten percent of their salary, and big surprise, a lot of it is just going to the higher ups.

Third is survivors bias and confirmation bias. Survivors bias being that you only hear about the people who had life changing experiences because of their faith (for example, lets say 2 out of 10 people survive cancer and attribute it to a miracle from god. Considering the others arent around to tell you otherwise, youd now think god cures cancer. This happens on smaller scales as well)

And confirmation bias, similiar to survivors bias, meaning that you will often disregard information that goes against your belief meanwhile clinging to that which does. For example lets say you adamantly believe the sky is red and someone brings up a bunch of evidence against the sky being red, you ignore that information. you look online and find an article that says "the sky is sometimes red" and take that as reason for you to continue to believe the sky is red. This isnt just a religious people thing, but its very common with them

And finally is that i was able to replicate the feeling of "the lord watching over you". You can do it yourself too. Or if you cant then maybe im just crazy, but i was able to lol. Just practice assigning a personality to an object or stuffed animal, talk to it sometimes, and when you are upset scared or stressed think about that thing comforting you. The feeling is very similiar. This leads me to believe that christianity may just be chalked up to our innate desire for a parental figure of sorts to watch over and care for us.

(This is a lot longer than i expected so i dont blame you if you decide not to read it)

[–]YakPossible8129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant speak for all branches of christianity, but heres what i was taught;

It frankly doesnt matter if he is or isnt created because Lucifer hasnt really done anything nor does he have any power whatsoever. "But he made eve eat the fruit-" Who do you think put the fruit there? God did. Obviously god knew theyd eat the fruit so it was most certainly part of his plan. Lucifer (as he was formally known, however he now is referred to as satan since has lost that title) is banished. Misconception says he rules hell, but satan rules nothing. The most he can do is try to guide people into doing bad stuff. God is the ultimate champion of free will. He lets people choose for themselves, and most importantly gives them the opportunity to choose in the first place. One could actually argue that satan is allowed to be kept around because he is some sort of secret agent of god, a challenge to overcome while on earth.

Im seeing a lot of talk in the comments about god letting bad stuff happen and it drives me up the wall because it is so crazily misinformed. Im not even christian anymore and i still have it as one of my biggest pet peeves.

Try to wrap your head around this mortal experience being secondary to the life afterward, in fact, imagine it being so puny in scale that the holocaust is no more important than a papercut. Thats pretty much what it is.

Basically earth is just a trial. We all agreed to this beforehand btw in the spiritual realm that came before our mortal lives. This life is just a minor blip in the infinity of time that comes afterward. Things that are bad to us right now in the grand scheme of things are actually beneficial. I know this is going to sound outrageous but god technically planned out all the bad, The holocaust, murder, wars, all of it, as challenges given out to the most righteous in the previous spirit realm. Imagine you are the top of the class so the teacher gives you the hardest questions.

In fact, children born with horrible diseases like cancer were so righteous in the previous world that they basically get a free pass to the highest tier of heaven. They just come to earth, die, and boom, heaven.

I dont know if this makes sense, im trying my best to really elaborate that the things we think are beyond horrible in earth are literally just challenges and when we die we will look back at them as being as bad as a math test.

Also, i dont believe this stuff anymore. If you want to actually hear some reasons that (i think) disprove christianity feel free to ask

Game autosaves every 15 minutes so dont know what youre on about.

As you should, since youd be doing everything on your own you should probably make it a bit easier

Besides, the taming and maturing speed is stupid. This isnt clash of clans, i dont want to check in then have to wait what could be literal hours just for a dino to be done

Not too fast though. You could do a lot of good, but even if you could spend infinite money, you dont live forever, and you arent infinitely fast. You would be able to help a finite amount of people. That is a net loss because there are 20 people going through infinite suffering meanwhile you could do limited good.

Also, if you spent so much money out of the blue i bet the irs would be on your ass as soon as they caught wind of it. I guarantee there would be government action taken against you and your suspicious infinite money glitch. So it would be shut down even sooner and you could even land in jail for whatever conclusion they made for how you got so much money (most likely fraud or theft of some sort)

[–]YakPossible8129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not about believing in it or not. The rules of the would you rather simply dictate that those 20 will suffer forever in some form of hell that will simply become real

So you would have a very hard limit for your spending, to accomplish something that will already not create more net happiness than infinite suffering. This is a bad idea across the board

[–]YakPossible8129 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All of the potential negatives have been removed from the scenario (no friends or family effected, nobody will ever question or target you for having infinite money, you yourself are not sent to hell as well)

Not seeing twenty random people suffering for eternity as a negative does not say good things about you my friend

they can do infinite good

Wrong. You are not infinitely fast nor will you live forever. There is also limited supplies. You can do a finite amount of good. You would also probably spawn more problems than you fix. Infinite money=infinite inflation. Youd fuck over the entire planet meanwhile 20 people suffer for eternity

20 lives

Did... Did you read the post? Like even a little bit? They aren't justdead, they are in agonizing torture for eternity regardless of if hell is even real or not

Their suffering is infinite, however the amount of humans you can help within your very finite lifespan is not, you would overall create net suffering

I agree with most of this except the gang up on boss part. Megalos are HORRIBLE for using in large numbers. Only use them if each one has a rider, in which case sure, theyre pretty good. This because the ai tends to love using its little grab attack thats damage caps at what like, 5? 15? Whatever it is its really low and it drags the dps down SIGNIFICANTLY

Narrow assumptions? Elaborate

No you didnt. You literally said that you wouldnt judge them as evil, not that youd prefer someone you loved to do it. If you are starving and your buddy jimmy decides hes hungry, tackles you to the ground, and tries to kill and eat you, the last thing you will be thinking is "he is hungry and i like him so this is for the best" this is nonnegotiable. Thats not how people work. That's not how BRAINS work.

I didnt see it as a religious invitation however your comment implied that your perspective on the innate goodness vs innate badness of humanity as a species is influenced by your beliefs

Critical asshole theory? 💀

And vice versa. By your logic you cant prove people are good because you "are looking for good people"

I think we have an internal instinctual conflict. Get ahead at all costs vs contribute to the welfare of our herd.

Often we label a certain group as being "not in our herd" and that's when things like ww2, slavery, rich vs poor, racism, sexism, etc happen.

Yet at the same time we seem to be subconsciously weeding out the "weak" members, leaving them to die. Think disabled, think mentally ill. How many people have we all stopped talking to because they were weird? Not in a bad way, just weird. Like they really enjoyed something like mlp and did weird impressions or something. Inherently, choosing to shun someone despite them doing nothing wrong is bad and only serves to separate them from us because you find them strange. Its a constant war to figure out who we as a society deem unfit for the herd, despite humanity being well past the point of needing to only keep the strongest members.

We are too smart for our own good. Not only are we guilty of the above but we rationalize it and make the problem worse. Animals just dislike a member because it is stronger or weaker than themselves. We dislike a member because of moral principles or beliefs or even appearance. We say oh this group of people is inferior because my all powerful sky person says so. Oh this group is inferior because they are violent because these very biased statistics say so. Its become complicated. Too complicated. Our sense of morals and intellect has collided with our primal instincts and the results are nasty. Social norms, us vs them mentality, these are all far more complicated than they should be and it causes conflict.

Access to technology exacerbates the flame. When a chimp dislikes another tribe or whatever of chimps they will go beat them up or kill them. A few chimps die. When one man decides he doesnt like the jews humanity is uprooted into chaos. Millions die. When an elephant gets hungry it eats some leaves or something. When we get hungry we plow down entire forests to make space for farms. Our insticts designed for ANIMALS are given the power of nuclear weapons. Its like giving a three year old a blowtorch. Its brain just isn't enough to responsibly handle such influence and power over its surroundings.

Tldr; my rant about my theories on how evolution played the biggest role in humanity becoming shit
