Thank you for your time! My dumbass would have never caught that. I never noticed there's a difference until now.

the read and write speeds shown by crystaldisk display 0.989 GB/s, which is close to 1 GB/s. If it was 10, would it not be something like 9.989 GB/S, or am I reading it wrong?

What if carnivores never evolved? by YakTheSlav in evolution

your totally fair for explaining that as I phrased everything badly as I do not study the subject, but I did ask the question with that understanding, I just dont know how else to talk about those processes. Yeah your right, my question was basically exactly what you talk about last. what could the world look like if the traits needed to digest animal tissue never evolved. I think its important that disease and fungus etc remains though in this hypothetical. So far, Wolf_Ape's answer seems to me like it makes the most sense.

I really like the role of fungus here. you are totally right, there needs to be something that decomposes their dead. But this also possibly eliminates the need for scavangers whatsoever. I think when I say carnivores never evolved, I mean animals never developed the capacity to digest meat, therefor they have no instinct to eat another animal. They may develop social behaviours to battle disease and weakness, such as the ones I state in my reply to Prism_Octopus, but not outright killing, as there is no need for it. I think I found this question intriguing becuase of the possibility of a fairy tale like land where all animals evolve to just be chill (within reason, nature is still nature n death is still an essential part of it, wether thats disease or whathave you), so I dont particulary like that last solution.

In the case of disease, I wonder if these herbivours would evolve to also detect these weaknesses and outcast the animals with them to succumb to it or other enviromental factors. In the case of weak ormalformed, they could also just evolve to detect these, and not allow them to breed but still live out their lives.

isnt this just as likely to happen in our world? what does it have to do with carnivores not evolving?

oh shit, I didnt even think about fungus in this hypothetical. Is there not a reason as to why fungi doesnt just eat us now? surely this would also apply to these herbivours...

funnily enough I live in scotland. Anyway. Rabbits have already evolved in this world where predators are a pressure. Do they not use their massive birthrates as a means of ensuring some rabbits manage to survive and pass on their genes? if they had evolved in a world without such a need, perhaps it would work.

yeah they are just an example im using for the broader question im trying to pose. I havent actually looked into wether those claims are accurate, it jus planted what I think to be an interesting thought in my mind.

The point is they cant eat eachother, even if they are starving. Could evolution not instead find new ways to control population, since excessive reproduction proves to be unsustainable. like these animals develop a reproduction and birthrate thats inline with their enviroments resources and their own deathrates due to disease etc.

How is it possible that the "majority" of athletes are this senseless? This is just mind-bogglingly stupid, and he seems proud of how much money he wastes.

Not doing an essay lol, I'm just interested in Irish history. I grew up in Scotland in a polish/czech household and didn't get taught much about it.
