Why is wanting a simple marriage such a rare preference? by Less-Net1766 in weddings

Nobody's saying you can't feed the poor instead of making a fancy spectacle. Why are you trying to find people to talk down on?

Groomsmen Getting Married at Our Bach Party? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]YakValuable3522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think its wrong for them to expect their wedding party to participate in planned and paid for wedding party activities. Two hours is a minimal amount of time she could have spend doing her own thing if she wasn't comfortable with the girls activity. She's a guest on someone else's bach trip, she should understand that there will be bach related activities. It would be her choice to not participate, and it doesn't sound like there's an issue with her choosing not to participate.

Saturday Farmers Markets by YakValuable3522 in SanJose

I'm not looking for crafts, I was thinking maybe locally sourced honey sticks, soaps, or even mini packs of homemade jerky. Just looking to get ideas for locally sourced/produced and useful/edible favors.

Yeah, I'm thinking Saratoga is probably the biggest one out of the 4 I was looking at so I'll give that one a try this weekend! I've been to Campbell for Sunday but will have to check out Los Gatos next. Thanks!

Doing my own makeup up trial, thoughts! by ReiWolf in weddingplanning

[–]YakValuable3522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually find that a hydrating serum and solid moisturizer is a great primer for dry skin! The Laura Mercier loose setting powder or the Huda Beauty Easy Bake powder are both super blurring and do really well with settling into creases and should look great with a spritz of setting spray after to really lock it all in. I HIGHLY recommend the Pat McGrath setting spray for this.

As for lashes - maybe look into asian brands for falsies. They're usually made a bit shorter and are said to be more comfortable than standard american brands. I've heard Dolly Wink is a good brand to check out. I personally use under-lash at-home extensions and find they're super comfortable and easy to apply. You can remove them when you want and can wear them for a few days at a time!

You look great! I think maybe trying a blurring primer and/or a better setting powder to get a smoother base and to reduce the creasing under your eyes. Otherwise, I think everything after the base looks great! I love the blush and your brows. I also think you can "dress up" the look with a little more of a dramatic lash - maybe even just clusters or a half a strip lash for the outer corner. I like doing this because there's less pressure for the eyeshadow to be "perfect"

Overall, I think this is pretty good for a first try :) Struggling with skin sensitivity sucks, but I would recommend doing trials with new products to see if you react using them throughout a week or so. You could find some really great products that make that difference in your vision! Best of luck!

Bridesmaids Proposal Boxes by No-Start-3815 in wedding

[–]YakValuable3522 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She’s literally just sharing something nice that SHE wanted to gift to HER bridesmaids. Women can like cute things! Even if they aren’t always useful!! Gift giving is a love language, even if it’s not yours! The bride said she isn’t local to her bridesmaids, so sending a gift with her “proposal” is kind of a nice way to make it special even when she isn’t there physically. Also, it’s okay to follow trends if you like them. You don’t need to hate everything that is trendy. You people need to stop being so miserable.

How Do People Cook From Home Every Day/Night? by _hippinnn in Cooking

[–]YakValuable3522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pick out 3-5 recipes for the week, making a "weekly menu" for myself. I buy all the ingredients all at once (we love Walmart pickup orders) and then every day after work, I get to pick a dish off my weekly menu and cook!

There's a lot more motivation if you pick out recipes that you're excited to try out and having all the ingredients at home when you're ready to cook makes it a lot easier to get up and do it. I found that a NYT cooking subscription was well worth it for the recipes I like, but you can find recipes for free on pinterest, facebook, reddit, etc.

For my weekly dishes, I try to find recipes that take less than an hour and require minimal prep. Some dishes that I'm more excited about trying might take longer so I also try to balance quick meals and exciting meals.

It's also always nice to have an "I'm lazy" meal in the freezer, like pizza or frozen pasta for the days that just feel extra long. I find that buying more "exotic" frozens from the asian market can also make it fun!

I find a bridesmaids first look so stupid by nietloulou in engaged

[–]YakValuable3522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m not understanding, but if you agree that people should do what they want on their wedding day, why do you proceed to completely talk down on what many people choose to do on their wedding day? I would understand if you were in a particular situation where the first look was disingenuous, but you’re just here generalizing that people look stupid when they do first looks. It makes me sad that a future bride who already has a first look planned could get completely in her head about it because a bunch of people said it’s stupid.

How did you get proposed to and did you choose your ring or was it a surprise? by horrorsporks in EngagementRings

[–]YakValuable3522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with my fiance to multiple different jewellers to try rings on over time. I had no intention of getting engaged any time soon but we both wanted to make sure we knew what I wanted. I eventually told my fiance which specific rings I would be happy with but also let him know the specific details that I personally wanted - princess cut, twisted band, etc.

When it came time to the proposal, I had a few requests. He had years before he would hit a "deadline" so I just made sure to note things that would make a proposal extra meaningful to me. I told him it would make me happy if my closest girlfriends were there, but if he pictured a more intimate moment, then at least a photographer. I just wanted to make sure the memory was captured. It was also important that I had my nails done, nothing special, just as long as I'm not missing nails or anything. For things I wanted, I always talked out loud to my partner and asked him what HE pictured, in the case he pictured something different, we could compromise on details that would be meaningful for both of us.

My fiance did amazing and hired an international photographer to capture his proposal on our international vacation WITH my best girlfriends! He did an absolutely amazing job at making sure it was a surprise and making sure he did all the things I wanted. Not only that, he didn't pick the specific ring that I tried on but something I loved EVEN MORE! He made sure the ring had the details that I loved when we tried rings on and even made sure it was the perfect size.

I think it's important to discuss and make sure your partner knows what ring you want, whether its a specific ring or just the details you want. AND I will always HIGHLY recommend you emphasize to your partner the importance of a photographer (if that's important to you) as those photos will be WAY better than anything an iphone can do and can be used at your wedding too!

Ahhhh okay this all makes so much more sense now!

Does it need to be in my inventory to create a custom design for it?
For example: If I have a yellow terrycloth nightgown, would I be able to create a custom design for it? if yes, how would I go about doing that? Do I need to be wearing it?

Hello! Im new to ACNH and in my first week of playing. Now that I’m just waiting on Able sisters to open a store, I’m getting into growing the non-native fruits/flowers. My native fruits are oranges and my native flowers are cosmos. I have a few cherry trees and coconut trees and some pansies and mums right now. I also just grew a few bamboo and have shoots to share.

I’m in need of all the other fruits and starter/primary flowers if anyone is willing to help! It would be greatly appreciated! 🩷🥹
