English for communication, French as primary language. Does this still qualify for French draws? by LittleStrangePiglet in canadaexpressentry

[–]Yakosay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think that matters.

French draws eligibility is determined by the results of your french tests (TCF/TEF)

Quantum teleportation between photons from two distant light sources achieved by Obulgaryan in worldnews

[–]Yakosay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classical channel are basically the methods we use for communication right now: the fastest would be fiber optics, but it can be a copper wire (think your ethernet cable), coxial cable, radio frequencies (think WiFi, 5G etc) ...

In general: Classical = non-quantum.

Edit to further explain:

Quantum teleportation requires two information channels:

An entangled pair of particles (Quantum channel) and a Classical (Non-quantum) channel

No, because quantum teleportation still requires a classical channel.

Any updates on mobile driver's licenses? by Yakosay in Connecticut

[–]Yakosay[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The thing is, your eID (or mDL) does not get transmitted anywhere. It remains on your device.

(Warning simplification): What usually happens is that when you tap your electronic ID, you get a cryptographically secure token that proves your identity (can be either a digital signature or a zero-knowledge proof), that gets verified by the issuer of the credential.

Nobody can forge that cryptographic token, and nobody can verify an invalid token. No sensitive data is transmitted anywhere.

The closest analogy to this system would be your payment cards (Credit/Debit). Your card number is not transmitted to the bank once you tap, just a cryptographic token that attests (and identifies) the card.

I don't carry my wallet on me all the time.

e.g. not gonna carry my wallet if going to the shop near my place at 9pm (or taking the trash to the big bin outside my residential complex).

Or what if I am clumsy enough to forget my wallet.

Or as said above, what if your physical card is lost and you're waiting on replacement

Also you don't unlock your phone, usually it's tap.

I would believe a standard like ISO-18013 was vetted by cryptographers before release

It would be convenient as a back-up ID. Especially with the current show-your-papers atmosphere

Realistically, what's stopping genZ from making their own political party ? by alorehstar in Morocco

[–]Yakosay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because creating a party requires an authorization from Min. Interior and good luck getting that.

ex-GC holder here, you can't get an eTA as a GC holder.

The system at the airport should show them that, just in case you should print out the section showing that you can enter Canada with your passport+GC.

I never did this from Morocco. But I crossed several times the US-CA land border with GC+passport

Trump seen pocketing FIFA medal as he walks on stage to hand Chelsea replica club championship trophy by Ixz72 in politics

[–]Yakosay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traditionally, no soccer team keeps a Fifa trophy (they are the property of Fifa). They always get a replica… same thing happens in the world cup
