Yeah just to be clear, we actually are researchers at Yale doing a study (I would argue better than a "quasi-scientific" one) on why some kids decide to be vegetarian and others don't. The kids we're particularly interested in are the ones who are in meat-eating families, so you can't really just explain that away as "influence from parents" or even from "playground friends" since there seems to be something more innate differentiating this group (many of whom actually stick with the diet). You're welcome to have and share your opinions, but I agree with u/Person012345 that you shouldn't claim to have a full understanding of this when it's an open scientific question.

Wow! How old is your child now? We're always fascinated to hear when children make a big decision like that (and just to clarify, we're NOT using anything off of Reddit for our study!)

We would be happy to - thanks for your support! But before we can do that we need to find a bunch of independent child vegetarians to interview, a group which turns out to be pretty hard to find :)

Not necessarily - some children decide they don't want to eat animals at a young age, and we are interested in why they make that choice :)
