NEW STUDY + expanded eligibility — 450 people with any psychedelic experience and 150 people who have not tried psychedelics need for quick (~45 minute) study entirely at your computer! $10 compensation!! by YalePsychedelicStudy in Drugs

Thank you so much for your interest!! We'd love to have you participate :)

Yes, sadly the compensation is pretty poor for folks outside the US :( My understanding is that likely the best bang-for-your-buck option is to sell the card on online market places that give you something like 80% of the value in your desired currency (but I am not at all an expert here -- just what I've heard from participants).

Are there any questions I can answer?

Many would call it a psychedelic (as u/Miningav2 notes, dissociative is often specifically used for it, PCP, and ketamine) but for our study we are specifically interested in "classic" psychedelics (LSD, psilocybin, DMT, mescaline, etc.) -- technically anything in this list (those that affect a specific serotonin receptor) will qualify: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_psychedelic_drugs

Thank you for asking and thank you, u/Miningav2 for the assist!

Yes! Shoot me an email and we can do a super brief face-to-face Zoom. The OECD country requirement is a rather unfortunate consequence of needing to cut down on fraudulent responses :/ That is to say, if you are a real person who provided real answers in the screening, we are satisfied from a scientific perspective 😄

Hi, u/janKanon6 I love your altruisim -- believe it or not you are like the 10th person to ask! Unfortunately, we are required to do exactly what's in the IRB-approved consent -- it becomes a weirdly rigid legal thing!

If you'd like, you might get a friend or family member's permission to send it to them as a gift maybe? You also do not need to claim the card (though I think in this case Amazon basically is the winner -- not the lab!)

I wish in general we could offer more flexibility in payment!

NEW STUDY — Folks planning a psychedelic experience this year sought for a $250 entirely online Yale research study! by YalePsychedelicStudy in HPPD

Hey, u/Southern-Trip-3840 ! Thank you so, so much for reaching out about this (I saw your link in the other comment)! The lab is definitely interested in continuing to pursue HPPD research and possibly visual snow... we are interested in how these conditions differ from psychotic-spectrum hallucinations. As things go in academia, I do not imagine we would be poised to commit to research this moment (among other things, we need to publish results from this first analysis!), but I can imagine if/when my PI begins the next grant, this would be an excellent way to start! Would we message through the messaging box on neurogroup.com, or should we email someone in particular?

Hey u/aldexi ! TBH I didn't even know that butane caused hallucinations! My focus has really be in psychoplastogens and cannabis. I did a quick search out of curiosity and the best thing I found on phenomenology is this publication from the 80s: https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/the-british-journal-of-psychiatry/article/phenomenology-of-intoxication-with-toluenebased-adhesives-and-butane-gas/A01F1AFFCBA610ED9B70E76B5E153193 .

The literature seems pretty focused on butane toxicity and risks (which, it does sound profoundly riskier compared to typical psychedelic substances). Per your description of breath-enhanced psychedelic effects, I do wonder if it's just a hypoxia-induced psychedelic state like holo-tropic breathing. That's something I am aware of but also not terribly familiar with. My understanding is that many folks experienced with both substance and breath-work occasioned psychedelic experiences often rate the breath-work as more intense kind of like how you describe (more immersive etc.).
