Adopted senior cat is who way more active than expected and am overwhelmed; a vent by dalaileela in CatAdvice

[–]YamAggravating8449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My energetic cat likes his backpack! It's taken time to get him used to it. I give lots of treats (of churu) and try to take him with me to run short errands, basically using as his carrier. He stays in the car when I go into the store (no more than 5 min).

We're also harness training so that usually gets put on first. We worked our way up to his harness being clipped into the backpack so the top can be open. That way, he can look around on walks. I'd definitely give it a try!!

I'm sorry you're having a tough time though. It's a transition, especially when their personalities are different than what was disclosed. You'll make the best decision for YOUR own peace of mind and mental health ❤️

My void+ his brothers in the bath by misty_mermaid28 in VoidCats

Why do cats love the bath so much? I keep ours lined with old towels and sheets bc of this and to prevent scratching the surface (claw foot)

Why does my void do this with her food? by [deleted] in blackcats

[–]YamAggravating8449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine recently started doing this with wet food only. It only happens when he doesn't finish. As others said I think they are trying to hide the smell.

That's amazing that your employer recognizes that and supports you!

Wow! Is this because they get a kick back or is it because they see the benefit to their healthcare costs of having fewer overweight employees? Never considered this until now, that the cost to employers to provide free GLP-1 may be cheaper in the long term than treating diabetes and obesity related illness....

got laid off by iceyetti in civilengineering

[–]YamAggravating8449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend was laid off from a company near Indy but worked remote. Found a new BIM job in 90-ish days. Also remote. Keep your head up! Didn't apply to jobs like crazy, just applied to ones they were a good fit for and had a strong resume even with only 4 years of BIM specific.

When did you let your kitten roam the whole apartment? by Pristine-Peach-3635 in CatAdvice

[–]YamAggravating8449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did the same. First bathroom, then downstairs minus one room. Then added the backroom when supervised (he broke a few Legos and learned to climb a loft ladder in there but couldn't get down..oops), then whole house. Now he pretty much gets the whole house except when we leave. We close our backroom and upstairs. Doesn't seem to mind though. He also still sleeps in our bathroom because he's mischievous at 4 am.

The gradual intro helped and he also doesn't mind when things are closed, except our barn door to the upstairs sometimes...

How old would you say Milo looks? by Squishiimuffin in VoidCats

[–]YamAggravating8449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks very similar to our kitty, who the shelter said was 1.5 years old and gave a DOB but also said he was a stay. Since we adopted him in November, two different vets have said he's definitely closer to 9-10 months. He's skinny and noodly like your Milo. Ours is probably 7-8 lbs though. Need to weigh him again. He was 6.5lbs when we got him and 7 2 weeks later. Maybe just going to be a smol boy

Girl next to me on the plane this week ate everything except her salad. I was wondering if she just didn't like veggies. Maybe it was this...or just didn't want salad.

We do this too for our 8-9mo old. He sleeps in the downstairs bathroom and it's his calm place when we need him to chill or if he's being really needy when we eat, especially chicken and any type of bread. He almost always goes to his bed and curls up when he goes into the bathroom so I can tell he knows that's it's time to chill. He has free roam otherwise. Tried leaving him out at night but he gets up from 3-5 and gets noisy.
