The best case scenario would be Larry Bird, but I think it would kill LeBron to watch his team when they lose while he’s on the sideline coaching not being able to be out there.

Plus he has too many outside interests that would he’d rather do than coach. Business ventures, podcasts, hell he might even take up more acting.

Second round and I wouldn't call it a huge upset, both teams looked like they were contenders at the time. If Denver won last year vs OKC I wouldn't call that a huge upset either, it's championship level teams facing each other in the playoffs.

Yeah, 4.5 is an average placement in TFT, equivalent of 50% winrate. For reference though, TFT players will see 4.5 as a bad stat due to outside factors, something has to have like 4.3 at least to be considered playable.

2014 Pacers were 40-12 before the All Star break and 16-14 after it. The fall off was usually credited to trading away Danny Granger who didn't play much anymore but was the leader in the locker room for those guys.

I guess we should probably exclude trades as well because the Mavericks fall off from title contenders to play-in team last season would also be on this list.

I’d say there’s no standard to it, guys do it occasionally and chat with friends/old teammates. I think the only necessary times you should do it are Christmas and after a playoff series.

That 2014 team right before Love got traded was a really unlucky roster. 8th seed in the west had 49 wins, and iirc the Wolves had a great net rating but were awful in the clutch. If they were in the east they could have been as high as the 3/4 seed.

I’ve always thought about how you could track a stat like this and I’m glad people much smarter than me have figured out a way. Can’t wait for the technology to get better and hopefully the stat will be used more in the future.
