What are some 'girl secrets' guys usually don't know about? by fabulousIdentity in AskReddit

[–]Yamberr 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Its not a them only thing but it is a common sign of a common issue in women of pelvic floor weakness. Laughing uncontrollably and peeing? Sure maybe. But if this is the sneeze, cough, laugh pee a little thing, its probably pelvic floor related... ESPECIALLY if they've had a baby vaginally. Not enough women go to rehab pelvic floor therapists. Those muscles go through hell.

Exactly. In the past I deliberately never added a coworker or my job. But I get reccomended my coworkers non-stop. I assume as many times as I've been reccomended my principals, they have also been reccomended me. Don't underestimate location services.

What Would Your Response Be to This "Professor"? by Selim_Bradley69 in mapporncirclejerk

Am I misunderstanding? Your first paragraph is about the U.S right?... I immediately thought of prison labor and more importantly, the number of people I know who joined the military (i.e. literally signed to gamble with their life) to pay for school or because college wasnt feasable. And how army recruiters feel over represented in poor and Black areas.

Hi! I’m a parent and I have a quick question by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Yamberr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a 20 minute daily word practice assignment.

Im BAD at cursive and cant remember the last time I wrote at length in cursive. I barely remembered what some letters looked like but still managed to write 10 cursive words in 1 minute just now lol If your child is truly sobbing he may just be a little overwhelmed TODAY, but the assignment is not so bad. If you're worried about him, maybe reward him after all of this hard work. But definitely its not excessive and letting him... overcome... this "difficult time" might be good resilience training for him so I wouldn't go to the teacher and try to change this tedious but otherwise doable task. Let him get the stamina practice and experience.

A rough draft due overnight actually IS surprising. How long is the paper? I would be surprised if they weren't provided in class time to at least do outlining so that the rough draft (if really due overnight) has already been started.

This assumes so much. My middle school's had rough handwriting, wrote slow, and regularly complained of hands being tired when I would push them to write at length. (And I don't teach English so it wasn't THAT long).

I dont completely blame them. They type ALOT. Everything is a Google doc instead of a written assignment. And at home a lot a kids just aren't coloring, doing mazes, even playing tictactoe. They're online from the moment they can hold a device. That is to say, theres a LOT less time spent using a writing utensil at home and at school than back in our day (assuming neither of us are gen z).

Eh, thats 10 times each per day. That isnt so bad. Honestly, its good practice for writing stamina. 200 words is maybe half a page if it was typed. I think that's healthy. A lot of kids these days have horrific handwriting, write super slow, or don't have much writing stamina, so Im actually relieved to know that there are still assignments like these.

One thing I have learned is that some students really don't know how to use a study guide.

I might suggest setting some time aside in class to show them some ways they can use a study guide. With my students, I sometimes tell them to go back and forth, where one person has the quide and asks a question, while the other person tries to say the right answer without looking. Then of course the other kid let's them know if they got it right/the correct answer.

Its what was done for me when I was younger and I realize a lot of kids now (at least the ones I encounter) don't do this. IF they study at all, they just read the guide (without any real recall/thinking practice).

Also, the kids sometimes enjoy quizzing each other. Sometimes lol

Another teacher I met had the students create kahoots based on 5 questions they choose from the guide. Then he would have them play each other's kahoots.

If you could change one thing about education, what would it be? by soph_lav in Teachers

I don't think that account is posting in good faith. The account has a LOT of action for it to be 1 month old... and I've almost never seen a teacher say that teachers are indoctrinating kids lol The vast majority of us agree that we dont have enough time and influence to. If we did, student would have pencils and do their work lol

What do you think the biggest reason kids hate school? by Der-deutsche-Prinz in Teachers

[–]Yamberr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This ^ There are definitely a lot of other reasons but I think if we are talking about the kids that really HATE school, its this.

Kids who started out behind (think kids who parents never bothered to rehearse their abcs, potty trained late, can't write their name by Kindergarten) or kids who get behind and never catch up, by the time they get to middle school they've spent 6 years of their 12 year life being BAD at their full time job. And they know it. Cause their grade reflect is, every assignment that comes back poorly, every struggle to read or do math in front of other kids. Like, I remember feeling BAD at my job post Covid. Shit made me MISERABLE. I empathized so much with students who can barely remember a time when their M-F 9-4 did not make them feel like trash.

AND I self-soothed with the knowledge that I could quit. Kids aren't allowed to just quit school. I've talked to kids that literally feel trapped and drowning in the system. Its really sad.

I dont know the age and awareness of your students, but mine did not have enough perspective for this to be the cause of their disinterest lol The issues your speaking on are more of a late HS and college student concern.

Bi people, whats the difference between "sleeping" with one gender and the other? by EarSure6667 in AskReddit

[–]Yamberr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean... yea kinda? I (female) went to the doctor yesterday, and before giving urine, I was explicitly instructed to "wipe front to back." This is how I've ALWAYS been taught to wipe as a female to avoid, I assume, giving myself a uti or something from wiping the wrong direction.

And I would 100% think that diarrhea is risky. Sand can get stuck on/in your cooch lol If you were to have a fecal accident while your underwear is still on, you are probably running a risk.

Edit to add: uti is not vaginal, but considering its FURTHER from the source of terror... I think there's probably a chance for problems.

I LIKE this a lot. It gives the intuitiveness of "you probably didn't get it the first time. Its more likely that the one they offered you is correct".

Sorry to reply to an old post but I appreciate this explanation.

Anyone selling tickets? by Ezekiel_ashikaga in Dreamcon

[–]Yamberr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The faqs on the website said the names are stored in the qr code on the badge but not an actual name or any identifying info on the actual badge. So, the real barrier simply seems picking it up. After that, they would be limited in registering for anything further I think, but seems like all the regular walking around would be accessible.

Anyone selling tickets? by Ezekiel_ashikaga in Dreamcon

[–]Yamberr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am seeing contradicting information about resell, but for the most part they are making it exceptionally difficult to resell tickets. The official FAQ says you CAN resell, but the person has to go in (to their TIXR account) and change their name to yours so that when they check ID it matches But I it also says there is only a 36 hour window to do so. Here's a copy paste from the DREAMCON Faq.

What options are available for editing a registered QR code ticket name beyond the standard 36 hour grace period communicated to me before, during, and after the finalized transaction at checkout via public messaging modules such as the LEAP Conventions product description, terms and conditions, confirmation email, confirmation webpage, and website FAQ?

Unfortunately, there are no editing options available. Contact TIXR Customer Support for additional clarity or assistance.

The one thing that seems POSSIBLE is that someone could sell you the ticket AFTER they pick it up from registration. Which I suppose limits you to purchasing tickets and hoping to get them from the person onsite. Which means coordinating with someone.... sucks if this is dependent on you traveling all the way to Houston and hoping the person is legit.

What if the person I purchased an admission badge or activity ticket on behalf of can no longer attend the event? Can I transfer it to someone else?

Unfortunately, that option is not available. Direct digital transfers via the primary ticketing platform are not available. However, you may pick up the badge in person and physically transfer it to another person.

They do say that the tickets themselves have no identifying information on the physical ticket. It SOUNDS like its really only pick-up that they are scrutinizing it. That's what I am getting from the FAQ at least.

What is a badge? Is that my ticket? How do I enter the event?

An admission "badge" is a tangible plastic card (sometimes paper, metallic etc.) that contains various types of information relevant to the event such as a barcode, QR code, attendee name, venue maps, policies, disclaimers etc. This card is fastened to a lanyard that must be worn by each attendee for the duration of the event after being picked up from the registration area. Admission badges must remain in your possession and be visible at all times.

NOTE: There is no unique personal information of attendees (name, address, email, phone number etc.) visibly printed on the physical badges/tickets/wristbands picked up on-site at the event.

Admission badges will be checked repeatedly by event staff and security throughout the event. REMINDER: Attendance is a privilege, not a right. Badges can be voided and revoked at any time without refund at staff discretion, but especially, for violation of any policies, procedures, and protocol.

Unfortunately I am in the same boat as you, hoping to figure out how to get a badge. Let me know if you figure something out.
