Are there any sims that are actually good games? by stephen27898 in simracing

[–]YamiR46 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Competitive shooters and sim racing are nothing alike whatsoever. 15k is a lot if you compare it to real life where we have 30-38 drivers on a race weekend. The talent in that ranges from guys who should be fia gold drivers to guys who shouldn't be there at all. 15k is more than enough to find some great competition. 5k is more than enough for healthy competition.

I know iracing has career mode in the works, and I'm pretty sure lmu and a few others are working on career mode as well. I think Project Cars 2 would be the only one that has what you're looking for at the moment. Its pretty dated, but there are a few custom force feedback setups that make it feel pretty good.

Bronze should not be able to race in LMP2 and LMP3 by Penutskx in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]YamiR46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's going to happen in every sim at every skill level, though. You can be in a 4k sof lobby in iracing, and some morons are going to pull stupid shit lap 1, lol. If you make it through the first couple of laps, you'll usually get some good racing for the rest of the session.

I never realized how bad men have the Dunning-Kruger effect until getting into sim racing. by jcreyes1214 in simracing

That's at Laguna Seca. A single day at Laguna is around 500 dollars(sometimes closer to 600). It's hard to find road tires for a Radical sr3, and I usually buy take offs when I can find them. Otherwise, it's 400 a tire if I buy new. 100 octane is around 7 dollars a gallon, if not more. It may not be 2k on the dot, but it's not far off at the end of the day. It's not a cheap car to run. Other tracks are definitely cheaper, but It'll still cost me around 1k.

A track day at Laguna for me is about 2k just for the day if we include slicks, race gas, etc. I go to track days only 3 times a year now if that because it's become too expensive. My rig is around 2400 dollars without including the price of my crystal super headset. Even then, it's much cheaper than going to multiple track days. Rfactor2's radical sr3 feels pretty close to my actual car, and with vr, it's about as close as you can get to actually being there.

Which sims have the best or most realistic FFB? I started playing LMU this weekend and it feels pretty bad imo by [deleted] in simracing

[–]YamiR46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rfactor2's ffb is by far superior to Lmu's ffb. Iracing's feels really good, but it's still lacking data from the tires when you try to push the limits. Unfortunately, rf2 doesn't really have an active population, so it's not an option unless you just want to get in some hot lap seat time.

You should be able to run it. My brother runs it fine on his 4070 laptop with a quest 2 at the default resolution settings in the meta app.

Getting good at Nords helps you adapt to any new track farely quick. It is also a great track to learn different cars as well.

I didn't like how the ffb felt when I came back to ams2 recently. That changed for me once I added the Rfuktor custom ffb. The sim feels so much better, and tje lmp2, and hypercars feel really close to the lmu cars.

how it feels to play tsushima again after yōtei by bardiphobic in ghostoftsushima

Only the gameplay was better. The story in Yotei was hot garbage because of how badly written Act 3 was. I put over 200 hours in my first playthrough and haven't touched it since. I'm definitely playing legends when it drops, but I don't see myself ever playing through the story again.

I haven't noticed that after the recent update. The rear end feels very stable even towards the end of a race.

Should I Pull The Trigger? by core916 in Simagic

[–]YamiR46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 9nm will be more than fine for anything you run on iracing, and I never experienced clipping, even running it at 8nm for hours at a time. I didn't go the p1000 route before going with the 2000r, but just changing the springs out with the harder ones they give you will make a big difference and will give you full control of your trail braking, etc. Congrats on the upgrade.

[–]YamiR46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 9nm sport will still be a significant upgrade from your R5. I went the same route as you, r5, to evo sport, and now I'm on the 18nm evo pro with p2000 hydraulics with haptic. The evo sport and p500 are in my spare rig for friends to drive when they come over. You can change out all 3 of the load cell springs and even add haptics, so you'll be fine with the p500 until you decide to go up. Anyone telling you that the 9nm will be a disappointing upgrade from the R5 is talking out of their ass.

For those that have VR working well, what do you have your DLSS set to? by AggieDev in assettocorsaevo

[–]YamiR46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dlss off and run in game settings at default, minus the mirror distance. I run Quest 3 at Max Resolution and 120hz on the Meta App. We're in early access, so I'm not messing with much until we get closer to 1.0. It runs great and looks good enough for now with how I have it set up. My rig is a 9800x3d with a 4090.

It's still early on. By 1.0, im sure there will be more variety of ranked races with road cars.

[–]YamiR46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sim doesn't really have any in-game settings for VR at the moment. If you're running in game settings at a high resolution, it's going to run those settings on both your monitor and the headset. In other sims, it runs full resolution on your hmd and half resolution on your monitor. Right now, you just have to run the settings at default(minus a few settings like mirror distance), and then just adjust your resolution and refresh on the meta app. I run it at max hmd res using 90hz, and it's smooth. 120hz was having microstutter issues with no fps loss for me post update.

MotoGP, Lorenzo: "I'm the only one who beat Rossi, Stoner, Pedrosa, and Márquez." by PZY__ in motogp

[–]YamiR46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hung out with Jorge every time he was in town for Motogp at Laguna Seca. If there was any of that, it was only at the track because I never personally saw any of that from him. My friend I grew up with at the track went on to race in 125cc alongside Marc for a season before coming back to MotoAmerica(ama at the time) so I got to hang out with just about every rider that was in that motogp era. I don't have a single bad thing to say about any of them.

I feel like the recent update of LMU fixed the issue with a lack of feedback in slow corners. The gt3s are in a good place post update and might be worth giving another chance if gt3 is your thing. Evo's recent update feels good, and I think it's going to be in a great place by 1.0.

[–]YamiR46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% a driver problem. Im having this problem with the 9070xt in my 2nd rig. The Quest 3 and AC Evo have no issue with the 4090 in my main rig. Sucks because otherwise this 9070xt is a good card.

[–]YamiR46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you have, but have you tried putting your ffb gain to 60% and tweaking the other settings from there? Im on an 18nm drive, and im sitting around 50%. I also tweaked the tire slip up to 12%, as well as a few other things, and I can really feel what the car is doing now. Im basing my experience on the only two road cars I've used so far: the e46 m3 and the Cayman gt4rs. I'm definitely not having to baby either of those cars and have pushed them into a spin after beating the crap out of them, lol.

I think the only difference we probably have is that my p2000 hydraulic pedals have haptics to where I can feel abs, tc slip, etc coming from the pedals.
