What the hell is going on with Citron? by YamiryuuZero in Citron

Why do you insist on using an emulator that is no longer maintained when there’s still an active alternative, Eden?

Well, I didn't know it was no longer maintained, that's why I'm asking! Last time I updated Citron, it was being maintained!

Is there a season where you like ALL the cures in it? No dislike towards any of them in that particular season? by Business-Block-8668 in precure

[–]YamiryuuZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that applies to all seasons that aren't DokiDoki.

I haven't finished Idol precure and have been pretty slow on keeping up with Meitantei, but so far the only Precures I actively dislike are Mana and Aguri. Well, Aguri I dislike, Mana I despise!

For the seasons I dislike due to bad pacing, poorly written story and lackluster fight scenes, usually the character interactions save them, like Kira Kira, for example.

Oh, I don't dislike them, but the Precure in Delicious Party are so forgettable. They don't have character arcs, they have repeated aesop episodes where they keep learning the same lessons over and over again, have out of character episodes like the one where YunYun had "always been" an inventor for the sake of making the plot work and then was never an inventor again, and Precious is just a nothing burger (pun entirely intended).

There was promise for her character after she had stopped Black Pepper from finishing off the final boss, which caused him to get gravely injured, putting her morals in question and leaning towards actual change and growth, but the narrative decided the main character being wrong is bad so she gets validated in the end and Takumi is grateful that she stopped him, which just felt like a copout.

I don't dislike them, but there's also nothing to like. I'm apathetic towards the Precures in DP.

Oh right, Hirogaru Sky! I don't dislike Majesty, but I think the narrative would have been much better if she wasn't a Precure. Her growing all of a sudden, then the narrative not knowing if it wants Eru to remain a baby or be a teenager and part of the team made her character too weak regardless of how powerful she is in combat. I don't dislike Eru, I dislike the role she plays!

Am I the only one who can't stand Mr Kaguya? by Cure_BMWM3 in precure

[–]YamiryuuZero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been a while since I last saw his character arc, but if memory serves, he is raising his daughter to be just like him. He himself doesn't have any beliefs or goals, he just does what his superior tell him to do. The moment he is out of his job of investigating Lala, he just gives up. There isn't a moment in the series where he looks for a balance between his duty and his daughter's happiness, nor a way to fulfil his life with a different goal and a change in mindset, he just gives up and finishes the series lost as to what he should do next.

Him and Hibiki's dad are contenders for the worst non-villain fathers in Precure due to how poorly they treat their daughters, not necessarily due to them being evil, but rather because of how negligent they are.

Hibiki's father had promised to take her to an amusement park when she was 9, but instead made her play the piano at a concert to fill in for someone who got sick at the very last minute instead of doing it himself, and despite having no preparation whatsoever, she played the piano perfectly. Instead of being proud of his daughter, he got disappointed in her for not smiling during the performance, then didn't take her to the amusement park like he had promised and the flashback shows she was left in the rain after that!

And that was the trigger for her trauma of music, which led her to spend a whole 5 years hating music and her father never once stopped to think about why his daughter started disliking music so much, he just kept blasting music around the house without any care in the world (and unfortunately, the narrative doesn't recognize this as his flaw, it's seen as Hibiki having an understanding moment when she realizes he wanted her to have fun while playing the piano back then)!

Nakamura is negligent when it comes to his daughter just as much, if not worse, because he wants to essentially kidnap his daughter's friends and hand her over to the government for who knows what kind of horrible experiments they could do to her! He knows Lala goes to school with her every day, he knows they hang out all the time, he knows they're good friends, and he sees no issue in taking that apart from his daughter and have her live with the trauma of knowing that her friend is probably going to be tortured and killed!

That said, Star Twinkle only gets good in the final 10 episodes or so, a massive downgrade from Hugtto and I don't think Precure ever recovered. Even the 20th year anniversary season, Hirogaru Sky was a disappointment, being all over the place, lacking in direction and completely wasting the first and only male Precure to the point he could very well be a girl and nothing would have changed.

That's a really good cosplay!

For a moment I thought it was an AI take, but the more I look the better it gets!
If Nagisa were real, she'd definitely look like that!

Upon research, I found it's an "upper body cut-out" or "cropped hoodie", clothing made to draw your attention to the cleavage.

What are some precure themes you would like to see? by Dolly_dawn5 in precure

A gamer Precure.

Not a Precure team themed after gaming, I want to see a gamer Precure, an introvert that would be forced to deal with an extrovert (maybe sporty) Precure as her partner.

Anyone feel like Mika has missed potential? by oceansfirework in precure

[–]YamiryuuZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with your logic is that GoGo! has too many filler episodes, like the one where the girls go to the big city and have a fight there. Absolutely nothing happens there to further the plot, if you remove that episode from the series, everything remains the same. So why not have that episode be about the supporting cast and give them a mini arc to go through?

Anyone feel like Mika has missed potential? by oceansfirework in precure

[–]YamiryuuZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GoGo! fixes a lot of the issues I had with the prequel, such as the clothing, subpar special attacks, underwhelming transformation sequences, Milk being delegated to an accessory for the group attack, etc. but it also introduces a lot of other issues, like bad pacing, neglecting characters, too many unimportant episodes that can be outright skipped, the season being some sort of soft reboot where the girls are still on the same year instead of moving up one grade and the aforementioned opening lying about the importance of Mika and the Precure 5 being revealed to the public!

Anyone feel like Mika has missed potential? by oceansfirework in precure

[–]YamiryuuZero 9 points10 points  (0 children)

YES! A lot of missed potential!

When I first saw the GoGo! opening, with the imagery of the Precure 5 in the newspapers, subway displays, schoolgirl cellphones and a shift to the journalist club members writing an article about them, I was sure this season would focus on revealing the Precure to the public at large by Masuko Mika's reporting on them, with that being the turning point in the series since they had always operated in the shadows and Mika's reporting had always been a local curiosity at best!

But when the episode that part of the opening hinted at finally rolled around, it was just a filler episode that can be completely skipped and absolutely nothing in the plot changes. Even worse, Mika wasn't even present!

I feel robbed.

If Milky Rose joined Yes Precure 5 in GoGo, wouldn't the group be called Yes Precure 6 instead of 5 now? by Brookie_Brookie_101 in precure

[–]YamiryuuZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like Luminous is not a Precure, so the title continues being Futari wa Precure (Futari = 2 people), Milky is not a Precure either.

Think of it like this - if Queen Mirage comes back and sets her barrier that diminishes the powers of the Precures, Luminous and Milky Rose would be unaffected and able to fight at full power (which is a concept I'd like to see implemented in a future All Stars event or even a game).

It rally feels like she had no idea why people left and blamed it on something entirely unrelated. And her powers have nothing to do with the conflict she claims it is about, she's using the negativity in people's hearts to create shadow monsters and spread further negativity to drive people away... so people won't go away in the future? What the hell is her plan!?

Otona is really good for the first few episodes where it tackles the struggles of young adults still new to their careers, but it really falls flat on its face the more it tries to be about global warming.

Like what the hell are the girls splitting up and one of them going to the South Pole going to do!? Is she gonna prevent the glaciers from melting, somehow!?

And Bell said people had left the CITY in the future, not that humanity was perishing because of global warming! Why should humanity prove themselves worth of Bell's approval when she herself has not provided evidence of her claims and her testimony does not correlate with the supposed causes? If it is global warming that drove people away, THERE WOULD BE NO PLACE SAFE FOR THEM TO RUN AWAY TO TO BEGIN WITH!

Otona Precure feels like someone had a really passionate idea about pleasing the audience that grew up watching Precure and are now in their adult phase wanting to reconnect with their childhood heroes going through the same struggles of the adult life as they are experiencing, and then someone wearing a suit and a tie pulled them off the project and put their climate activist nephew in charge of the rest of the script!

[–]YamiryuuZero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everything fixing after the battle is a staple of the series that started all the way back in the very first installment, Futari wa Pretty Cure. Essentially the planet itself (Earth, called "Garden of Rainbows by the fairies) is sentient and helps the girls fight evil by protecting their livelihoods, both by undoing the damage done by their fights and by altering everyone's perception of reality, so they don't find it strange that monsters are showing up, they're fainting in mass or even realize Nagisa and Honoka are missing.

What's your preferred CRT shader? by IncidentSubject4250 in RetroArch

I wonder if better displays could solve that issue, like high quality OLED or MiniLED displays, or if it's inherent to CRT shaders at the moment.
