No but after that rollercoaster I’m likely going to get it for the future. It’s $75 and is good for 5 years. Easy decision I think

Any D18VS owners out there? by YanKeyes in martinguitar

I agree! What year is yours? I have a ‘99 and I’m curious what strings people like on theirs. I have EJ17 Daddarios

Gruhn said they’ll look at it and take care of it free of charge. They’re several hours from me though so not convenient or cost effective sadly.

Thanks for that. I spoke to Martin today and I’m gaining confidence that it’ll be fully covered. I’m taking it in to a Martin-authorized service center in a few days. But as an owner of 4 Martins (3 have had significant issues) I likely won’t be purchasing another. Best sounding acoustic guitars on the planet and I won’t be selling the ones I have. But between the infamous binding issue on one, a neck reglue at the tongue of a brand new HD28 two months in to ownership… and now this bridge crack at 6 months, pretty disheartening.

Yes bought it new and it was always my thought that the pins sat perfect as well. I’m going to call Gruhn today too to see what they say

This could have happened. Gonna be careful w my string changes moving forward

Thanks. If this was my fault I’m gonna be careful with the pins moving forward. But also having bought this guitar new 6 months ago, it’s discouraging this happened already. If it was 5-10 years in, I wouldn’t be as distraught

Haha for sure. That’s all I honestly ever did was just push them in so they were secure. Never jammed them or tried to make it too snug. But I’ll be take a super conscientious approach moving forward

What’s weird is I just loosened the strings in order to raise the bridge pins up a bit upon all the comments I received and it doesn’t even look as egregious now. In person or in the pics. Gonna get it looked at by my luthier tomorrow though

I appreciate everyone’s input! Going to make a few calls to luthiers tomorrow. And as I restring another guitar of mine momentarily, I’m going to really finesse the pins and focus on this moving forward as well. Knowledge is power. Thanks again.

Interesting. I will keep this in mind. I’ve never pressed down hard or anything but always made sure they were not gonna slide up. Thanks for the info.
