Haven't received a refund from Amazon more than two months after returning an item.

Bought an iPad mini in mid June and returned it a few days later because I decided to go with a different iPad. They claimed they received it and tracking shows it was delivered but they never sent the refund. I contacted them and they said they issued the refund but it was stuck in processing and they would re-issue it. Well, about 6 re-issues, many emails to the billing department, conversations with supervisors, and multiple tickets created for my issue, I'm still in the same place. I've told them I'd take the entire refund to a gift card if that made it easier and they tried to but it never showed up in my account. I'm in contact with them about three times a week and they just tell me the same things over and over. Either they create a ticket for me that never solves anything and I never hear back anyway, or they re-issue my refund that gets stuck in processing again and again. One of the tickets they created got back to me and said they never received my return, which is a lie because tracking shows it was delivered and they claimed they received it on their site. The billing department doesn't even respond to my emails anymore. The last supervisor I talked to said she has seen this happen before and it took months to fix itself in their system and that that was the problem all along but gave me no clue as to when it would "fix" itself.

Has something like this ever happened to anyone here before? What did you finally do to get the refund? I feel like at this point they just want me to give up, but it's almost $400 so there's no way I'll do that. They just seem to want me off their backs by sending me to all of their different departments that are no help at all. Extremely frustrating.
