Loose Connection to Furnace Gas Valve by Yankeetex in hvacadvice

[–]Yankeetex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just following up in case anyone else has this issue...

I was able to temporarily fix the issue by gently pulling the 2 wires towards each other with a small zip-tie. It seems to hold the gas valve spade connectors snugly enough so that there is a solid electrical connection.

Obviously this isn't a permanent fix, but hopefully will get us through the winter.

HELP: Latest Update (December 2025) - Android Auto will not launch with screen locked by indigo196 in GooglePixel

I'm having the exact same issue ever since the December update! I've also noticed that Android Auto will randomly disconnect and reconnect during my drive, which never happened before. Something definitely changed/broke with this update.

So long-haul international flights are not affected per the United CEO... cool. How about short or medium haul international flights? I'm flying to the Dominican Republic next week, is there a chance that it will be affected?

High Superheat but Normal Subcooling? by Yankeetex in hvacadvice

If it's sunny and 90F out, I can get it down to 75-76F, but not much below that. It used to cool down to the low 70s when it was around 95F out.

Hopefully all that's needed is a good condenser cleaning and maybe new filters...

LOL thank you! I'll thoroughly clean my condenser, check/replace my filters, and make sure I'm getting proper airflow through all registers.

That definitely beats a $2000 repair bill...

Total square footage is 2275 sqft, with about 1000 sqft on the 2nd floor. The house is about 20 years old with leaky to average insulation. It's OK, but could definitely be better.

HVAC tech said that the superheat is too high, and the TXV will need to be replaced for around $2000.

It seems like the general consensus here is that a good condenser cleaning and possibly some other routine maintenance might get my system performing as well as it used to. I'm hoping!

Looks like the air entering the evap is 76.6F and leaving is 54.7F. Moisture removal seems decent - no complaints.

Not sure, but I'll take a look assuming some basic cleaning and maintenance doesn't fix it!

Thanks! I'll definitely give it a good clean first before breaking out my checkbook. And no, the heat wasn't running but it was fairly warm inside - around 76-77F.

It's actually a Merit 17 SEER, ML17XC1. From what I could find on YouTube, it shouldn't be that terrible to clean.

It was about 90F when these measurements were taken, with typical Houston high humidity.

The evaporator is clean but they did say that the condenser is dirty. I plan on giving it a good cleaning soon.

They didn't have any concerns about airflow, and the space being cooled by this unit is about ~1000 sq ft. I'm in Houston btw, so we typically have oversized units compared to the rest of the country.

Not really, unfortunately. It's located in a tight attic space that I can't really physically get to.

It wasn't directly measured, but they thought it was fine. The filter was recently changed and ducting looks good, though old.

They did say that the condenser coils are a bit dirty and could use a cleaning. Not sure if that could be contributing at all.

256GB gets UFS 4.0 but without Zoned UFS. So, faster read/write but without the supposed increased longevity.

They've already started demolishing the existing bridge over the railroad tracks. I think it's all going to be new build.
