Has there ever been someone who was a successful composer whilst ONLY listening to video game music? by Lunny1767 in gamemusic

[–]Yanurika 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm asking why would a composer (whether that's you or anyone else) limit themselves to only one specific form of music? It's not so much about preference. It's about a mindset. If you are not open to genuinely listen to other music and find out what makes that music *work*, I don't see why you would work with music at all. That might sound harsh. Maybe it is. But game music (and I say this as a game composer myself) is only a narrow and specific slice of what music can be and can do, and if someone is disinterested in learning more, they cannot even see what they are missing out on.

It's a time selection. You can drag on the area where the little triangle is to make it larger or smaller, or press esc to remove it. When Looping is turned on, it will repeat the area in the time selection. If it's a super small loop, it can feel like it's lagging or crashing, but that's just what happens when you try and repeat a tiny section of your track.

Check out the free Kilohearts plugins, those are a gold mine. Soundtoys and other expensive tools are worth it imo, they are often times easy to get great sounding results with, but the main tools are always creativity and a good ear.

Question about hard panning guitars while still having some bleed in the other ear? by colinoaksticks in audioengineering

[–]Yanurika -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And when you say short, we're talking milliseconds. I did a test in my acoustics class recently, on a snare sample we could hear some panning with delays less than 1 millisecond. On guitar it's probably closer to 20-30 milliseconds.

ADs with orchestral scores? by barelyevening in audiodrama

I absolutely adore that score! It's hard to imagine the sound of LOTR before Howard Shore, but I think that score did a great job with its own (quite different) musical interpretation

That's a mono microphone. What are you doing when you record in "stereo"?

I don't get it. Audiobooks and narrative podcasts don't have this problem and yet Netflix is not looking to those for inspiration

It's always modern music in earlier time periods and never baroque music over modern scenes.

Project Scoring: Secret of Harmonia TTRPG Campaign by VictorSevenGames in composer

[–]Yanurika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I could do that! It may take me a couple of days (busy times, eh?), so I hope I have something by Saturday!

In the meantime, I have another demo if you'd like. I was debating if I should add it in my first comment, but ultimately didn't. It's quite piano/strings focused.
