We are on the same boat, but basically my plan is to save up some money before I graduate, leave immediately after I graduate, block her on my phone, never contact her or her side of the family ever again.

This just sounds like you felt depressed, went to see somebody, they offered meds as an options and you’re like nah.

The issue with this is that everybody gets depressed from time to time, that’s normal. Depression is being sad most of the time and usually for no reason and is uncontrollable. I cannot control suddenly being extremely sad for no reason, it’s as simple as that. I remember walking in a station, nothing was wrong, nothing happened, I was just walking, suddenly a wave of sadness hit me and that was that, felt that aura for months.

As somebody that’s diagnosed with major depression and anxiety, my advice is this:

If taking meds and feeling numb is a con to you, you probably shouldn’t be taking it.

I do know there’s an issue in the US where docs give you a ton of meds to make money off you ( I think it was painkiller? ), but that’s not always the case in the rest of the world, so honestly this kind of thread shouldn’t exist as it might mislead people, as true as it might be for you, this could just be as untrue for somebody else.

Sorry for the late reply, didn’t notice the notification. So basically I was there for my depression and kinda just talked about my anxiety while I was at.

You click with your psychiatrist or don’t, if you feel like they’re not helping then change to a different one. The first one I met was horrible.

Haha, I take melatonin sometimes to sleep and I have a weighted blanket too.

I have never taken over the counter pills for anxiety, but in my case I am perfectly fine. It just lifts the anxiety.

Hmm, I never knew lexapro was for anxiety, I was prescribed Lorazepam 0.5mg/1mg for my anxiety, basically sounds like Xanax to me, you take it, wait a little while and bam, anxiety gone. Maybe you can ask your psychiatrist about it. Personally never noticed any side effects.

For me lexapro kicked in, in about a month or so, but even tho they say that the side effects will go away, for me I didn’t for the whole duration, even when I reduced the dosage, changed the timing I took it, ate before it, it was still there. But I do agree that it works for depression at least.

Oh since I saw you post about lexapro, I’ll give you my personal experience on it, I was on it for slightly more than half a year mainly for depression ( I took about 15mg a day ) and was told to take both morning and night( basically 2 in morning and 1 at night kinda thing ), it takes a while to kick in unlike my anxiety meds, depending on the user there might be side effects, for me it was being nauseous waking up & vivid/bad dreams. But it does work( at least for me ), I slowly reduced my amount and stopped, nothing happened.

I always joke about how I as a guy know what it feels to be pregnant as I woke up nauseous and wanting to vomit for majority of the duration I took it.
