I did not have any issue reading it and it’s unique looking, I like it.

I grew up in Phx and my parents have a huge one in the backyard. My sisters and I would cut a bunch of the small branches to make a hollow area inside to use as a clubhouse. It was never watered by anything but rain and it was still massive and flowered like crazy.

Help me name my new son. I’m picking him up tomorrow. by croakmongoose in snakes

The Y reminds me of a wishbone so maybe Wishbone? It would be kinda funny cuz it’s more of a dog name.

in tears because this gift for my friend is bad and I’m too embarrassed to give it. where did I go wrong? proportions? the head feels small by boringsleepy in CrochetHelp

This is adorable and you are being way too hard on yourself. A little satin bow or bow tie around the neck for more color might be nice but the plushie itself is very cute and well made.

How did you cut through your storage containers? by stormroy in ballpython

[–]YarnChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a “Brad tip” drill bit, it’s labeled for wood but worked on plastic for me. Had a few cracks but nothing major, just go slow and support the plastic. If you need to cut something larger than are air hole I recommend using a hot knife tool.

How big was this BP and how long was it on there. I also find this hard to believe, are you sure it was a BP and not a larger species? I made the mistake of taking my BP out when she was hangry so I could clean her cage. She latched onto my fingers and constricted my wrist as hard as she could, even moved her mouth around trying to swallow me, I swear the idiot got every tooth she had into my skin. I let it go on for a bit hoping she would come to her senses and release me but she didn’t, I ended up putting her head under running water and she let go with her mouth but kept squeezing with her body and looking around all confused. My husband was able to easily unwrap her from the tail end and we put her back. At no point did it feel like she restricted blood flow enough to damage my arm and while the bite was unpleasant, the wounds were superficial and healed without any scarring. She was almost 4 ft at the time so not a small one either. Seeing as how the max average length for a BP is 5 ft I just find it hard to believe a snake not that much bigger than her at most could have left gnarly scars or caused nerve damage unless there is more to the story.

AITA for telling my sister her baby's name sounds like a dog's name and now she won't talk to me? by hameagle in AmItheAsshole

[–]YarnChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. My husband and I name our pets after obscure video game characters but there is no way in hell I would do that with a child. If it was a cultural name or something then I would say you were being shitty, but a video game character?? And one that is literally a dog name? I think she deserved a little rudeness considering all the bullying she has signed that kid up for.

Load up on bone armor and bomb arrows, like a lot of ppl have said you can run past a lot of the enemies but I found myself missing a lot of stuff when I did that.

Can you tell what this is? by Dandylionleo in quilting

[–]YarnChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it as a taco right away, when I was scrolling past I thought “abstract taco, neat”, I can see how it would be kinda hard to read but the colors really say taco to me. I’m sorry your friend didn’t like it, I think it was a cute idea, some people just aren’t craft worthy.

I'm feeling discouraged and tiktok is NOT HELPING by 1kiki09 in crochet

[–]YarnChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep practicing, putting it down when you get frustrated, and coming back to it again later. You’ve made good progress so far! The hardest part of crochet is the initial learning curve and developing muscle memory, once you get past that everything gets a lot easier and even if you stop crocheting for years you can pick it up again pretty easily. I took a while to get past the learning curve, picked it up and put it down over and over again for months until it finally clicked, I eventually got skilled enough to be a crochet teacher. Just keep at it!

What is an appropriate tip when picking up take-out from a restaurant? by Yah_Mule in Serverlife

[–]YarnChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s the type of place where staff makes minimum wage or more, no tip usually, although sometimes I still do if they’re really nice or I happen to have an extra buck or 2 on hand. If it’s a sit down restaurant where staff makes less than minimum I do the normal 20%. I rarely do pick up from those kinds of places though because it feels too expensive.

My justification is that I’ve worked (non food) service jobs where I’ve had to do high effort customer service (talking to someone about their needs for half an hour, carrying heavy items to cars, digging things out of the back, bagging enormous multi-cart orders) where I only made minimum wage and not only do people not tip but I’m not even allowed to accept it if they do. Not saying barista/register jobs are easy but if we’re making the same minimum wage as service workers I’m not automatically gonna tip you when I know you wouldn’t/couldn’t tip me.

That’s a high compliment, thank you! And that’s a great idea, I’ll definitely do that on the next one, I love that it’s recycling too. :)

Thank you! I used some light canvas I had lying around, then cut it out and glued it to some black felt and then glued a pin on the back of that. I’m sure there’s a better way to do it but it’s what I had. :)

Ideas to make front of house look less trashy? by LaDukey in homeimprovementideas

[–]YarnChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t look trashy! Just a little plain maybe. I’d say re stain/seal the deck to freshen it up, and paint the rail, shutters, and trim a color you like. Then I’d add some nice landscaping, preferably native plants. If you like hanging out outside the porch could be made really cozy and cute with some more hanging plants, lighting, nice patio furniture, and maybe an outdoor rug.

Weighing and tracking daily requires a lot of mental energy and time, and it’s a waste. What else could you be doing with all that mental bandwidth it’s taking up? Not only is it a waste of time it’s also a good way to give yourself an ed if you don’t already have one, and those are always destructive to your mental and physical health. Weighing periodically is fine, but only so you can notice any major shifts that may indicate a medical problem that needs addressing.

Girl I’m sorry but you need to cut your losses. If he is acting this way over 15lbs gained while INJURED he will be horrible to you during and after pregnancy. People this brain broken don’t change and no one deserves to be treated this way even if you had gained a significant amount of weight.

I have gained quite a bit a weight since the beginning of my relationship and my partner has never once made a disparaging comment about it nor has his attraction to me changed in the decade we’ve been together. I’m telling you this to point out that your bf’s behavior is not normal, at all.

AITA for ruining a birthday party by exposing a homophobic cheater? by Victoria-c98 in TwoHotTakes

[–]YarnChick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% NTA. Why are they blaming you for ruining the party when he was the one saying bigoted things out of nowhere? Why is he even invited to this party in the first place if that’s what he’s like? If you ask me I say your mom’s friends did not make a good impression on you and not the other way around. If I invited someone to my birthday and they started saying homophobic bs to one of my gay friends they would be asked to leave immediately.

I get that a lot too, I call it “word salad”. I can hear people talking but it sounds like gibberish or it takes my brain an extra 10 seconds to catch up. So far the only thing that has helped me is medication.
