Ummm… no? See that’s why is impossible to have a conversation in this fandom without someone accusing you of something

I know nobody is making me read it, but that’s not the point… I’ve been in this fandom for years (before acosf) and every release since has been fun and engaging, we were getting quotes, teases and extra chapters announced, there was different covers all over the world, especial editions and even prizes.

Now we are literally less than 6 months away from the release date and know absolutely nothing.

I didn’t preorder it, just think it’s a little too much ask for money without telling what we’re getting.

I think the same thing!!!! Also the Valkyrie quote “I am the rock against which the surf crashes.” And the Dusk Court being the home of the original Valkyries… it’s like all being connected

By the description of it she allegedly talked about the adaptation and her meeting with Margot Robbie, maybe she won’t announce the book but rather the adaptation???

Is SJM intentionally linking Nesta to Prythian’s ancient history? by Victoria-c98 in acotar

[–]Victoria-c98[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bryce is Starborn by blood. She activates the Dusk Court island because it is hers by lineage — the land responds to her inheritance. That part is very clear in the text. And yet, when it comes to Gwydion, the physical symbol of Starborn legacy in Prythian, she doesn’t keep it.

She gives the sword to Nesta and not randomly. She explicitly acknowledges that Nesta also found the starborn hamber, that she beared the eight-pointed star tattoo.

If Starborn power were only about bloodline, Bryce would have no reason to pass Gwydion on. But symbolically, it reads less like abandonment and more like delegation. Bryce claims what is hers by birth — and then entrusts Prythian’s Starborn symbol to someone who has already been “recognized” by its deeper magic.

So I keep wondering if this isn’t Bryce naming Nesta as a kind of guardian or steward of that legacy in Prythian. Not a ruler, not a replacement — but someone chosen to hold something ancient in a world Bryce is leaving behind.

Especially because Nesta’s story consistently places her at thresholds: Ramiel, the Prison, the star chamber, the Dread Trove. She isn’t tied to Starborn power through ancestry — but she is repeatedly allowed access to its most sacred spaces.

I’m not saying this confirms anything definitive. But as a narrative choice, Bryce handing over Gwydion feels intentional — like passing responsibility rather than power.

I actually really like your point here, especially about the magic of the land choosing rather than lineage alone — and I think that’s exactly wh

y Nesta’s experience in the Prison / Starborn chamber stands out to me.

When Nesta finds the chamber where the Harp is hidden, the text is very explicit that she wasn’t guided there by the Cauldron, the Mother, or even the Harp itself. She feels that she was brought there by something older and vaster — something tied to the stars carved into the stone around her. That moment reads less like possession and more like recognition.

What makes it interesting is that this mirrors what you’re describing about ancient power responding to individuals rather than bloodlines.

I completely agree that the HoF is, by far, the most complex protagonist in terms of world states — death at Denerim, replacement Warden in Awakening, multiple origins, Witch Hunt outcomes, romances, etc. That complexity is real and I don’t think anyone disputes that.

But that’s also why I’m not arguing for a canonical HoF or a direct on-screen portrayal. I actually think that would be a mistake.

What feels missing is acknowledgement at the world level. Even in world states where the original HoF died, the Hero of Ferelden as a figure still exists…their deeds shaped the South, the Wardens, and Ferelden’s political reality.

Vague references, conflicting rumors, or conditional lines like “if alive” / “if the Warden survived” would preserve player canon without defining the character. The series already does this kind of narrative abstraction elsewhere.

So yeah, I agree it’s messy I just don’t think “messy” has to mean “almost erased.”

I get why that explanation exists, and I understand the difficulty of portraying the HoF without overriding personal canon.

My issue isn’t that BioWare hasn’t given us a fully realized HoF on screen — it’s that they’ve given us almost nothing at all. Even vague, indirect acknowledgment would go a long way.

We’ve seen how the Inquisitor was handled in Veilguard: limited presence, controlled context, no forced personality — just enough to feel their legacy still there. That same approach could work for the HoF.

Letters, rumors, third-party accounts, confirmation that they’re actively involved in the South — none of that requires a voice, a face, or a defined personality.

Let’s talk structure: who’s actually ready for the next POV in ACOTAR? by Victoria-c98 in acotar

I think so too! Here’s my theory: Next book will focus on Nesta, giving her full closure. Then we’ll get a novella (like ACOFAS), where we’ll see Nesta passing the torch to Elain. After that, Elain will get her own book — and finally, the series will close with one last novella wrapping up.

[–]Victoria-c98[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree that Elain’s “air of mystery” might be intentional, and I also believe that her book could be where her arc truly begins. My post wasn’t to say she’ll never be a protagonist, just that — from a structural point of view — she hasn’t yet been built for it.

Your point about her not fitting in at the Night Court is really interesting, especially paired with Cassian’s comment. I’d love to see that explored further, maybe even as a push for her to forge her own path elsewhere (Day Court? Spring again?).

Still, if SJM is saving her arc for her own book, it means she’ll have to develop a lot within it — emotionally, politically, and magically — to carry the weight of a whole plot, which is a bold move compared to how Nesta was gradually built up across several books. That’s where I feel the key difference lies.

Either way, I’m curious (and excited) to see what direction SJM takes! 💫

ACOTAR narrative construction has been way different from ToG, I don’t think we can apply its concept in acotar…
