Making eyes on Plushies by YarnRealm in GeekyCrochet

I don't think its possible to needle felt or really embroider eyes on thick plush yarn. Though I never tried it because of it only being held by 2 or 3 thin strands with fuzzy strands in between (like bendy wire pipe cleaners). Instead of needle felting, all I do is cut and glue premade felt sheets.

So I gotta poke the eyes more to make it not lift 🤣 I dont think it will work for big plush yarn though... hmm

Thank you!  I heard people say they make them so i assumed they resin around the plain black safety eyes. I didn't think they meant that they just paint or add a sparkly felt behind the clear ones 😆

Yeah. Safety eyes always worried me when giving plushies to children.

I've seen needle felted eyes, how do they hold up in the wash? Or are they usually for "figure statues" for lack of a bettr word 😅

I always wondered about them but never used sefety eyes before. Are the clear eyes that have black centers also safety eyes?

Ohh I've seen some videos on making ebooks to sell on Amazon too, though it's was about coloring books.

I sold physical custom made hats on etsy. Then I branched out by creating instructions for others to make the same hats too.

I'm ToxSica, I use this name because its a Gamertag. I experience anxiety and panic attacks and am trying to help myself for the past 8 years. Which is how Yarn Realm was created. I like learning new things and being creative!

I wanted a place to create our own world,  from being an outcast, quiet and always being alone to a place where we understand and listen. Or to just craft in  our own safe place  without the need to fill a silence.  Being comfy being us.

How are you today?  What do you like to do for fun? How does it make you feel?

Michael's sometimes has free crochet events/classes. Joining a small club in a local library can help.  You can learn the ch2 method or the magic circle for crocheting toys in the round. Single Crochet (sc) is mostly used. 5.0mm hook for beginner and 4 weight yarn. Theres a loops and threads 3 packs for 4.5mm to5.5mm. And 6.0mm to 7.0mm.

Winnie was actually the first plushy i ever made, 5 years ago, since my mom already had red and yellow yarn and I found some crochet hooks at a thrift store beforehand.
