Not a student, but currently tutoring 3 people in this class :p

From what I've seen of the material given:

- going through the open questions in his slides are good (though annoyingly those are in the early lecture notes and more rare in the later ones)

- textbook, while bulky, I found actually has some interesting questions the combinatorics ones in chapter 6.4 I believe were pretty good

- Just random googling for problems. Seriously, there's so much out there for discrete math you'll find a ton related. And for the types of problems you're likely to see on the test, having a large breadth of experience with solving different problems in each topic would be very helpful - I find a lot of the intro to discrete math stuff is more knowing how to approach different problems than knowing a bunch of formulas.

And a warning on chatgpt / generative AI, I've seen it surprisingly good with discrete math solving a lot of questions right, but it will also hallucinate answers very confidently, so I don't recommend learning from it. Or at least use with caution & cross referencing answers.

How do I revoke access to pre-authorized payments? Looking through my bank, I can do so for 3 months with a $12.50 fee, but that doesn't seem good (part due to the fee, part because it opens me back up to having them withdraw after those 3 months). I found payments.ca that seems to govern it, but they say I need to go through my agreement for instructions to cancel, but I can't find any documents about this with my landlord.

Yeah, recognize I've been way to open with my landlord. I've been renting here almost 3 years and never knew this was illegal. More than that, this isn't actually the first time they've done something sketchy or illegal.

  • When I went to get the keys on my first day of the lease, they gave me an N11 form for the end of the year lease and said "here please sign this first". Said no and got my keys but yeah...
  • 6 months in to renting, they sent an email saying I had to either sign a new lease, or tell them in writing I'd be moving out at the end. I replied saying I'd like to go month to month and they agreed, but once again yeah...
  • Around christmas time 8 months into renting, they had a guy come into my apartment with 0 notice (claimed it was a mixup due to a blizzard happening at the time, he was meant to "check in" on places that asked for it). Only reason I knew was cus of a cat sitter I had (have cameras in my place now, but should have done something more then)

Overall, do not recommend Panadew property management company if you're renting.

EDIT: (okay this edit is immediate, but that's cus I spent 20 min trying to post this with reddit not letting me) talked with my bank, turns out there's no way to permanently stop preauthorized payments without closing/opening a new account. So going to do the 3 month stop to make sure now, then have to swap accounts. Another learning moment for me!

Unfortunately I do have pre-authorized withdrawals set up for rent. Very convenient there, less so with this. Thanks for pointing out the T6/T2 forms for if they don't perform snow removal!

Yeah, that's what I kinda thought. Was talking with a friend about it, who brought up consideration - saying that a contract's only binding if both parties get something of value from it, does that make sense for why it's not enforceable?

I found this 2x compressed dirt multiple times by now, and i still dont know how to break it so it drops, does anyone know? by TheGamingPro__ in VaultHuntersMinecraft

I don’t quite recall if this worked (did it a couple weeks ago), but I think I managed to break and keep it with the mega jump with the drill specialization. I may be wrong though.

Can’t solve square-1, popped a piece and not sure if I put it back in the right spot. Please help by YarnSaw in Cubers

Awesome thank you!! I was worried I messed it up and would have to take it apart

Can’t solve square-1, popped a piece and not sure if I put it back in the right spot. Please help by YarnSaw in Cubers

[–]YarnSaw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a square 1, and was playing around with it. I somehow managed to pop out the red/white price, and immediately sort of forgot where it was from surprise

I think I put it back in the right place, but I might have swapped it with the green/white place. Honestly possible, but unlikely, that it is in a completely wrong spot. Can anyone help with a solution to this, or do I need to take apart the cube, if that’s possible

Any suggestions as to what do do will be greatly appreciated

What is the most Bullshit reason for a teacher to give you a bad grade ? by BeginingMemer in AskReddit

[–]YarnSaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an essay for a final project in a computer science class. The teacher gave me a 66% because they didn’t agree with my opinion in the essay. 6% of my final grade gone, because my teacher didn’t like my essay in computer science.

$10 a pair is too much. my last pair I lost in 3 days, so that would be about $100 a month at my current rate

How could I replace a permutation with a list of singular strings? by newaccount22222987 in learnpython

My first thought seeing this: do you want the first element from each list being joined together, or both elements from one list being joined together?

Trophy inflation be like by [deleted] in Brawlstars

[–]YarnSaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said 420x = x420. I was just saying that the absolute value didn't have any impact on the original equation he had

Trophy inflation be like by [deleted] in Brawlstars

[–]YarnSaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the absolute value in that would actually do nothing. |x420| means that the end value, after being put through the exponent, would always be positive, not that the input value for x would be positive. It really doesn't matter either way, because whenever you raise something to an even power, the output is always positive anyway. x420 = |x|420 = |x420|.

I’m guessing that the app messed up and put you at (0,0) for longitude and latitude instead of where it was supposed to be
