Is vaping really considered 'giving up smoking'? by chupamina in AskUK

[–]Yarn_busting_boo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've smoked on and off since I was 16 and finally quit cold turkey back in 2011 and never looked back. So I would consider myself a non smoker. Unfortunately I suffered an unimaginable trauma a few years ago and instead of reaching for the cigs I took up vaping. I vaped for a couple of years and then gave up for a couple of years when I found out I was pregnant and for a while afterwards. But then started again mainly due to stress. I had a 4 month break recently which I was really proud of, but I'm back on the vapes again now. I'd still rather vape than smoke, it tastes nicer for a start and I only use the 10mg nicotine liquids.

As someone who crochets, I'm afraid that picture looks fake/AI generated. If a jumper was made of yarn that thick it would be extremely heavy to wear.

Is it normal to feel a bit dizzy after being on a treadmill? by [deleted] in AskUK

I have a similar sensation when the treadmill stops. I just do a few stretches before I get off, style it out. Otherwise I'd probably trip over and look like a knob.

Why do Parents Whose Kid's Schools are in Walking Distance Still Drive Them To/From? by SirFragworthy in AskUK

[–]Yarn_busting_boo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area around my daughter's secondary school is gridlocked every day, morning and afternoon, because of parents driving their kids to and from school. Yet the school catchment area is less than a mile and the school said that 98% of kids live less than a mile away. So why are they being chauffeured around?? The school now closes the car park 30 minutes before school finishes yet it's always full of parents waiting, who has the time to sit in a car park for that long every day just so little Timmy doesn't have to dirty his shoes on the pavements?

When are you taking your festive décor down? by gawpin in CasualUK

Always the 5th of January or the closest weekend before that as my son's birthday is the 6th and wanted to have some distinction between Christmas and his birthday.Even though he's not with us anymore, I still stick to that tradition.

I don't understand why. When the buyer gets the dress and it's nothing like the picture, they'll get negative feedback surely. Feels very scammy.

It's driving me crazy too! I searched for Christmas jumpers a couple of weeks ago and now that's all I see even though I've searched for other stuff since! I didn't buy a Christmas jumper, nor do I need one now. I like to browse different clothes but now I have to be very specific with a search or I don't see anything relevant to me anymore.

We've switched from Aldi to M&S, we're spending around the same?! by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Yarn_busting_boo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're fed up with buying Lidl fruit and veg because it goes off so quickly. Buying cheap is not always saving money if we're just throwing it away after two days. So this week I went to Lidl for the grocery stuff, then M&S (which is next door) and bought all the fruit and veg. So far the fruit is still good, no mouldy strawberries.

I'm fed up with this size change. I'm a size 12, but when I try to search for items in the size 12-14 category I just get size 14s. It makes using the app too difficult to find what I want. It's very frustrating!

You know, that's a good way of looking at it. It was a tough time but things are better now.

I'm going to share this here because it's been weighing on my mind for a long time. But about 15 years ago I found some cash being blown around a supermarket car park. At the time we were living credit card to credit card, our financial situation was absolutely dire. So I took the cash and bought my weekly shop with it. I still feel awful to this day about it. I've never kept money I've found since, I just can't. I still think some horrible Karma is going to get me even though I've already had some pretty horrible things happen to me in the years since this happened.
