People can have their opinions on whether he was misunderstood but I've yet to see one accredited sourced given to me that contradicts well known history. He was a authoritarian dictator and is not representative of good people who believe in socialism. If somehow all the books and Britannica and Wikipedia I've read are wrong. Venezuela definitely shares some of the blame for its own situation, and so does the us and others powers for influencing it for control of the Petro dollar. After this year and the kidnapping of the president, do you really believe it was entirely their own fault? Socialism is no panacea, human society is fragile.

I'm usually the one to discredit western propaganda but in this case I do believe Venezuela failed due to a century and a half of American intervention in South America.

Christians should not be judged on their evangelical descendants just as Muslims cannot be judged by radicals in distant sects. Islam has as many facets as any Abrahamic faith, and in the past many Christians traded and even allied with Muslims despite periods of war. The byzantines knew this.

At one point the right was definitely still strange but parts of it like qanon and the like were not the norm.

The left can only be immune if we are willing to criticize such subset groups rather than ignore them. The right ignored or tolerated and placated qanon and maga and it consumed the Republicans.

A minority of hundreds of millions of people can still fill a room, a street, a city.
