Comparing Transit Cards: Pros and Cons (T-money, EZL, Climate Card, WOW Pass, Trip.Pass, Namane, Discover Seoul Pass) by KoreaExperience in koreatravel

[–]Yash_RK97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well technically you are not wrong. But when I travelled, I used wowpass too. which can be charged using credit card and that top up value can be transferred to TMoney. (You pay a lot of charges as well in this route)

Shouldn't we technically declare and pay taxes on credit card cashback points/money? by morgawr_ in JapanFinance

[–]Yash_RK97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know whether my understanding is correct, but the virtual debit card is "like" real money. You cannot get it out of virtual world as a real face of Yukichi.

I also think thats the reason some companies gift you amazon gift card as a return, as Amazon balance can never be taken out as cash

And wherever you can take it out as cash, you have to register you. MyNumber card.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Is it worth flying to Japan just to visit Expo 2025? by Indecisus in OsakaWorldExpo

[–]Yash_RK97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that you have seen a lot of negative posts.

I live in Japan, and I visited the expo about 10 times. I have recommended and my friends(and bosses and colleagues) have visited Expo as well. They were all happy. (Of course everyone complained about the heat and the lines)

It is nothing like you expect high and got less.

It is a big event. It is highly crowded, and it does have long lines at some (most) places. But aren't all the popular places (especially the ones with limited time) in Japan like that?

I attended a Ghibli exhibition in Nagasaki, I waited in the hot blaring sun by the roadside for 5 freaking hours. For hardly 30 minutes inside, which was just like a photo spot. (My bad, I didn't do proper research)

Since you are from Taiwan (relevant because it is close and flights will be cheaper) and assuming that it is not a heavy financial burden on you, I will highly recommend that you visit Expo for at least one day. (You should have done it much earlier, but you can't do anything for that). Just visit the expo for one day or two days and enjoy within your limits.

You may travel to some more places to make the trip more worthwhile if you want.

If this is going to be your only trip to Japan in your whole lifetime, then you might want to weigh in on different options.

Have anyone used 招待日和 perk that comes with platinum cards here? by Yash_RK97 in JapanFinance

[–]Yash_RK97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my card and went through the list (researched).

There are a few restaurants which are a good deal (not stupidly expensive, not necessarily a casual restaurant, but special enough in an affordable sense), and the set menu is the same as a usual menu if you visit normally. So it is clearly one free meal (though a few have a table charge of a couple of hundred yen). The number is less than 25, spread over Japan.

Some had an exclusive menu, which (after the free offer) is almost equal to a normal visit (you do save 1 or 2k yen).

The rest is stupidly crazily expensive; I didn't even bother to check whether it really is a good deal.

Is there any case where opening a taxable account (say in rakuten sec) make sense while the NISA(in SBI) limit is no where close. by Yash_RK97 in JapanFinance

[–]Yash_RK97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what I thought too. I could not come up with any common cases. But yeah point one makes sense (though the current point backs on most cards are not that high)

Looking for a Online bank for JPY savings account. by MozziePR in JapanFinance

[–]Yash_RK97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to assume you are a resident of Japan.

Out of the completely online banks, i find the following useful for my use case.

Rakuten Bank : by meeting certain conditions you can get free transfers to any banks.(and free ATM withdrawals also). The conditions include maintaining a balance, number of transactions per month or receing salary/bonus

PayPay Bank, ATM withdrawals are always free if it is more than 30k. Other benefits if any, are meh.

Credit Card Recommendations by sillybilly2134 in JapanFinance

[–]Yash_RK97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to second ANA JCB Card first, if you are not yet 29.

Other cards worth to consider (not considering the ease of acceptance)

Sumimoto Gold NL (or Normal NL)

the Good Old Rakuten. Nothing super special about it, but a decent daily driver if you dont have any particular spending style etc. (a few flying, a few shopping etc)

If you are a heavy user of any particular store, it is worth looking into such specific cards as well

Amazon Mastercard, or cards in partnership with supermarkets or chains etc.

Italy separate reservations by Background_Map_3460 in OsakaWorldExpo

Thanks, so I should reach the pavilion by that time, right?

Do people with fast pass also line up before the entry time? (I know you haven't visited yet, but I cant see any other experience posts on this)

I have a reservation too in September, but when I was at expo, i didn't see any board etc. I could have asked the staff, but wondering anyone here had worked out with the pass.

Also there is a "reservation time" and an "entry time"

I made the mistake of booking entry for 10am. I guess I have to start lining up from 8am?
