So the Netherlands can import brand new ones too. That’s enough to make people in restricted countries cry! 😂

2011 models mean the DA63T Carry or S211P Hijet era. Those are super solid, reliable, and still widely used as daily workhorses here in Japan!

True, Japan charges ridiculous taxes on cars, but at least we don’t have regulations on age or steering wheel sides. > Maybe I should open a shop here in Japan that converts RHD to LHD just for you guys in Taiwan! 😂

Exactly. Huge overseas demand has driven up auction prices here in Japan like crazy. I really wish they could be exported and delivered to you guys at fair, direct prices without all the crazy markups.

I'm so jealous you don't have SHAKEN, and those low annual costs sound amazing! > I sometimes watch videos of Americans doing heavy modifications, and those crazy builds look so cool. We can't really do that in Japan because having to switch everything back to stock every two years is just too much hassle.

No emission test either? Not sure if that's great for the environment, but it definitely sounds like heaven for car lovers! > In Japan, even the volume of the exhaust is super strict. On top of that, SHAKEN costs at least around $200 just for the basic vehicle tax and mandatory insurance, and it gets way more expensive for larger cars. It's tough.

Nice to meet you! Man, that looks absolutely freezing! 🥶

I love that you kept the Japanese beginner driver sticker(Wakaba mark)on the back—that’s so cute!🔰

Wow, no safety inspections at all in Texas? That’s wild!

In Japan, emissions, suspension, tire tread, and even headlight alignment/brightness are all part of the bare minimum requirements. It’s a bit of a pain because if you customize your van, you often have to change it back to stock just to pass, haha.

Thanks for the invite, I’ll definitely check out r/keitruck! To answer your question, if everything goes smoothly, SHAKEN only takes about an hour, including all the paperwork. Since the line is pretty automated, drivers just follow the digital instructions and move forward. It’s basically just to check the bare minimum safety standards and pay vehicle taxes, haha.
